Blow that wind !!
Well after losing both fences a few weeks back in the storms we bit the bullet and replaced the whole lot, this time concrete and closed board, it will take a hurricane to blow this lot down

I wish guys lol ...… that's me done in all aspects any spare money now will be spent on buying fish, its been a very expensive 2019 and 2020 has not got off to a great start, garden should be like a suntrap in the summer and can only help reduce those cold winter winds off the pond,

Looking great that Steve nice neat job.
Little tip,if you get a panel rattling in the wind put a long screw in at an angle on the top corner so when it comes out the other side it hits the rebate in the concrete post and pushes the panel really tight, also stops anyone lifting the panel from the other side, so more secure.John

Hi John,
cheers for the tip, the fencer was pretty good he had these little angled brackets that he hammered into the top corner which took up the slack and each one was then screwed down to stop them rattling round, I was unsure on the concrete and was worried how it would look compared to nice wooden posts but its much better than I thought and pleased with the outcome, big question now is whether to stain the wood or leave to silver up with age ? one good thing is I got some decent lengths of waste wood from the fencer which I will put up the side of the shed and put the polycarb panels on there upright edge for storage whilst not in use, will wrap them up in a tarp as well to protect them from the rain, just hope they do not warp too much, I have no room to keep them laid flat anywhere, mmmmm just had a thought...……under the grand kids trampoline might be an idea but no doubt the trouble and strife will object as it will be in view, watch this space lol

I have often thought of staining my concrete posts,I think you should do it then let me see how they turn out.
Can you not store the poly down the side of the garage Steve ?John

Hi John,
yes original plan was down the side of the shed but I am worried that being on there sides for 6 months might warp them ? so thought laying flat might be better, I think they will end up down the side of the shed as the wife wants the garden clear for the grand kids and no "eye sores" in view lol..... so as per Johnathans thoughts of the side skirt for the trampoline I might be able to hide them under there stacked on top of each other, but now thinking the polycarb might depress overtime due to the weight, oh what a conundrum !!!
Ref post painiting mmmmm noit sure on that either, I might leave them as they are as if it looks crap I will never hear the end of it.....

looks good that, one of my neighbours painted his fence and posts brown years ago, looked fantastic for a few years but now the panels are aged not so good lol,i wanted to replace ours with the plastic panels but worked out at £80 per panel and with a 60ft x 30ft garden would of cost a fortune so went for wood lol,,,,,,andi

Mmmmm very smart that is but wow like you say expensive but should last a long time so probably on par with conventional fencing in the long run ?

https://buildingplasticsdirect.co.uk/eco-fencing/ this is where was getting from originally, price gone up lol, works out at £80 per 5ft panel as we have 1ft kickboard,so to replace all 25 panels would be £2000 lol,but as you say over time the wood rot and need replacing and they need staining every year so probably cheaper to go plastic in the scheme of things,,,,,,andi

cracking job, there looks great
i wish i'd known about close boarded panels when i replaced all my fencing,
the brother inlaw just supplied them i just never thought to look into it...
i need to re paint my fence panels this year as the cheap cuprinol fence paint just doen't last, and it's a pain to get round everywhere now.
i'll be painting mine with sadolin superdec satin, it's good stuff, goes on really easy and is guaranteed for 10 years now i think.
the cabin was painted with it 4 years ago and still looks new!
i did a tester on a fence panel a couple of years ago and it looks as good as the day i painted it.
so i'll be doing the whole fence in anthracite grey RAL7016 the same as my doors and my cabin.
but you can get it in loads of colours as it's mixed up in the shop.
it's a bit pricey at around £90/5ltrs but it does cover well and goes a long way.
