Microscope phone clamp
Hey I can't remember if it was on here I saw it but someone posted about a phone clamp for microscopes, well I bought one ages ago but it's been in a drawer forgotten about for months. I wanted to scraper a cpl and remembered I had one and I must say these things are a must have in my opinion, 2 seconds to clamp your phone on stick it on camera mode and there you go, no headaches or back ache, image is loads better than the usual cheapy biolux gives you too. I'll see if I can find the link if anyone is interested

I have one on these.. I found it ok but the auto focus on phones can make it annoying.
I went for a mini grab in the end.. and in my opinion it’s so much better.
If anyone wants the clamp let me know just cover postage

i've looked these phone clamps myself having just bought an apex practitioner of my own.
and viewing through the eye piece is a pain, i did some scrapes yesterday my back is still sore today
i might be better just cough up for a mini grab.
what is the image quality like on the mini grab?
also i did find a slightly different though more expensive phone clamp.

Try the software from Burnel. I have the apex mini grab and the software worked fine on my Mac this week.

i thought so too.
the reviews give a good idea how well it works,
and the shortcomings like the phones camera refocusing when you alter the focus on the microscope.
but i thought it would be easier to set up than hauling a laptop around with the microscope.
the only issue i think would be the image size more than the quality.
my eyesight is crap close up now, i used to have 20/20 vision....
now i recon it's more 4/10...old age lol!
i think the minigrab is limited in actual resolution and fps due to the usb interface.
and a phones video camera at 4k is in a different league.
but looking at a high resolution 6" image on a phone,
compared to a lower resolution14" image on a laptop i think you would see more small detail on the laptop at a lower resolution.
has anyone got any screen shots from a minigrab?
apex have it as out of stock on their website @£52
and though thier website says it's £56 on amazon is £86 on amazon

my brother kindly left me his Apex scope to get used too but unsure right now like you whether to get a grab or just use the camera holder, my iphone has a good camera so i am tempted to give the holder a go, the camera screen is still going to be easier and a lot less eye and back draining whilst trying to check your slides out..... would be nice to use your laptop for sure with a nice big screen and with no drivers to set up sounds an easy plug and play option......... most places seem out of stock or expensive......mmmmmm decisions decisions.

I had the camera holder for my samsung phone. I couldn't get use to it. To much faffing about for me. So I bought the mini grabber. Use it on my computer. What I found was the video software you get with it was not that good. So I did a bit of research and a lot used this software.
Micro spin video capture. Free. Or it was then.
A lot easier on the computer now.
