You want at least 4000gallons. 5000 if you can lol.
If you can t fit one length or width wise at that gallonage. Make up for it with depth lol. Mine is 5000 gallons. And I found it perfect for larger fish. As well. When there ill.
It's good fun gaz.

Lol I was gonna say, my pond is only 4000 gallons, the Mrs would murder me if I stole the whole garage for a 5000 gallon tank lolol
500g would still take up a fair old space though with filter...Will have to see what I can shift around to maybe make one fit. Maybe a sieve and shower would be the most space saving solution as shower would be above tank. Haven’t got the room for pod/barrels/nexus, not without getting rid of my thing tackle lol

also depends on how many fish you put in there lol. because thye grow pretty fast. because that's the idea after all. a grow on. the 11 I got in October are 8 inch already and very bulky. and can they eat lol.
I would go 300 gallons minimum lol. up to you lol. saying that look how many grow on in IBC tanks.

I was only considering half a dozen and then there’s the problem of what to do with them when they’ve grown although I do know a fair few people with decent sized ponds who could accommodate the odd fish.

I could put 3 or 4 in the top pond. but my water comes over a shute. and the fish would come over and drop into the pond. I suppose I could put some fish in top pond. I would have to put a guard of plastic on there,
with holes in it.
you have me thinking now. when you come and take your 2 or three fish. that leave me 8. I may put 4 in the top pond and the other 4 in the main pond. I reckon my filters can handle it. my fish come first lol.
even if some of them in that bowl look better then some of my grow ons. its a sentimental thing , I have reared them from 1 1\2 inch, looks don t come into it.
great idea though AJ. something to think about lolLast edited by freddyboy; 26-02-2020 at 04:14 PM.
