Best time to start dropping temps?

I have 2 possibly 3 fish from inside that Im moving outdoors this year, when would be a good time to start lowering temps to get them ready for alfresco life? They have been at 21c since autumn and the outside water has been a steady 9-11c over the winter, obviously I'm not going to move them until covers are off and the water is much warmer

When it comes to around spring time. If I add my grow ons. To main pond. I drop tempreture 1.5c everyday un till it equals with pond temperature. Then leave for a few days. To get used to the tempreture. I mix the water then from pond and qt. Grow on. In a large bowl. Leave for a couple of hours. Reason for that is my pond water is not the same water as grow on tank. Let them get used to it slowly. Like if they have just come from a koi shop in a bag.
Then put them in the pond. Never had a problem.
So in my case about a week. To add to pond.

I'm going to start dropping temps from Monday.

Doubt it will go lower than 12C, so need to wait for pond to reach that temp.

Last year during pond extension and Koi being in the garage we had that ridiculous 21C day towards end of Feb so that gave me a temp match much sooner than expected and the Koi were back outside by end of Feb.

Lol, and there's me constantly moaning that we can't hold double figures!

Never been so aware of temperatures prior to keeping Koi. Winter always seems too long but now it feels like it never ends.

It's ok having 12c and say 14c. During a day. But then night time comes and its say 4c. That's when the pond has a problem

we always seem to struggle with temperature here,
being in the centre of the country we're in a bit of a frost pocket.
even had a sprinkle of snow yesterday....

if the north gets it, it usually gets it worse.

my dad has photo's of him standing on snow level with the roof of his house when he was a little kid...
snow drifts were over 10ft deep!
    ...that was Newcastle 1947.
