My oldest koi is 18 months Oldest koi

I also have wondered this as there are lots of numbers flying about. I think in our climate and in an enthusiast pond you expect 15-30 years I would say.

I have seen threads claiming the oldest koi recorded in japan was 226 years

Mine is currently 12 years and is the first one I ever got I would think the lifespan also depend on whether you heat in winter as I think the aging slows down with the metabolism to some extent

There was a thread about two years ago, about the same subject?
I posted up my Orange Ogon bought back in 1976, looking a bit worse for wear, ie she had been unwell for a couple of months & started to loose her bright Orange all over colour, she is still with me today, & is now almost 50-50 Orange & white (snow on the roof!)
She is now 44 years old, & the previously mentioned thread stopped (killed) then.

    Stay Lucky.

    Guys
Maybe some back ground on my 44yo Ogon, I lived in Herts when I purchased her for my 1200 gallon DIY pond, from what was then Henlow Koi! Now I believe Perfect Aquatics, same location, she was one of a batch bought together as tosai, buy four get one free deal, she stayed with all my others until 2006 when I moved to Norfolk, & they all survived the move.
She appeared to have stopped growing, before the move, but her new Home is 8,000 gallons give or take with filter changes etc over the years, but she decided that all the food going in that pond was hers, she along with most of the others would know when the auto feed would trigger, but she would line herself directly under the stream of pellets, until she would literally GAG ? (Imaging ramming eight slices of dry bread into your mouth)
Yes she started growing again, I don’t have any need to get her out of the pond but she must be about 80cm long.
