Potassium
Hi all, well I'm on the verge of giving up and going down the goldfish and Lily route until i thought of pp , all but one koi has now succumbed to some bacterial disease , so I'm thinking come spring I will have no fish in the pond, so if i was to try with koi again would dosing the water with pp sterilise the water before adding any more koi..

Dont see why not Scotty if you used a good strong dose and let the pump circulate it,maybe someone else may know better.
I know of one guy who has a few vats in his garage and when one is empty he uses bleach to sterilize it and swears by it,but I wouldn't recommend that.John

If you pp or ct your pond..... Have you actually got rid of the problem
For a bacterial issue you may have a stagnant water area in your pond or filter.
Make sure that all of your water is being moved around especially on waterfalls.
You could do all this cleansing of your pond and start again only for the issue to reoccur if you haven't sorted why you have the problem now.5000 Gallon Fibreglassed Pond With 54" x 27" Infinity Window

If your sure it’s just bacterial and you’ve found and rectified what’s causing it ie dirty pond dirty filters I would ad virkon s aquatic powder

I think you need to do some. sleuthing to try to determine the cause of your problem, because otherwise you might just get a repeat of the same thing all over again.
With no fish left you could do a total drain down and disinfection and start over fresh with sterile 'as new' media.
But I would be wanting to know why this had happened myself.2016 new 6000 gallon pond

Hi, had fish for 7-8 yrs no probs then last winter I decided to do away with my large block built diy filter and treat myself to a space saving Nexus , when I built the original filter I hadn't put a valve in between pond and filter so i had to drain pond down enough to be lower than the filter to enable me to knock filter down and connect nexus while doing this i thought with water being that low ideal time to put a window in ,so moved fish out and drained a bit more window in ,nexus on ,topped pond back up, probably took about a month I'm guessing this has somehow caused the probs never been right since really

I agree with feline and andy. You need to get to the bottom of the problem.
And try and find out the cause of it. As it will come back.
I had problems at the start. Cement leaching. 3 pod canister letting chlorine in.
Air to high. Air in nexus not good enough
Also the dreaded black algi
Emptied pond. Bleached it. Pressure washed it. Thourouly rinsed it out.
And not had a problem since. There just some of the problems I had. Plus new pond syndrome.
Took me 8 months to find all these things out.

You say nexus. I have a nexus 320 with draco drum. I found out that the air in my outer chamber was not clearing the crap up
So I put six air stones in the bottom as well as running the air ring. The crap was building up in the bottom of the feet on the nexus.
Plus it took my media nearly 2 years to fully mature.

if you work in a lab, you soon find you don't need the stuff, not least as it needs such a long risk assessment and safe storage as it is nasty stuff, yet its on sale in a supermarket for 20p and into the hands of Joe public to do as they please. Also once having been exposed to a hit of chlorine, thanks to a work experance person, im even less keen to be near it,

its as easy as its ever been to get hold of any of that stuff, its more the lose of morality that is now the problem, heck i remember using air rifles and pistols in the fields as a youth and beside the odd person getting shot in the bum, not much bad ever happened. role on 15 odd years later and people are now happily smoking plant fertiliser and finding all sorts of stupid ways to harm each other

Hi Scotty, when you topped the water up did you dechlorinate?
Have you done water tests for ph/kh?
When you fitted the window what sealant did you use?
Seems to me it's more water problems than bacterial think what you did different when changing the filters.
Not having a go mate but I think you have to get to the bottom of it before anything else.John
