I'd love to get involved in these events, but unfortunately their website never seems to be updated.
Hardly any Koi (within my affordability) are on their website, and most of those show as sold. The only competition event I can find is one from 2013, yet they regularly have auctions and various events but don't seem to put them on the website.
They seem to do all their communications via facebook, which I'm not a member of.
A lot of people within this/my demographic don't use social media so it definitely limits their selling potential.
Sounds like it will be a good competition.

Get your self on Facebook then! Totally agree their website is terrible though, I think there are a few left if you wanted one there was some nice fish available in the batch, if they stay nice or not is a completely different story. Here's the 2 I got

I won't join Facebook.... too long (awkward) to explain why, but guess I could under a fake name just to follow Koi Dealers.... but then there's a part of me that thinks if a company wants business they should use the appropriate channels. Some channels may be loss making, but it doesn't cost anything to add content to their website.
On a happy note, my Tosai from DaveJ's May spawning are 25-27cm, and even the smallest runt is around 19cm so the growth achieved isn't bad in comparison to those Sakai fish.
I had a Sakai Tosai Sanke that looked quite similar to the one in your pic. Here it is at around 10cm:

It changed so much over the course of a year I couldn't believe it. This is how it looked when I moved it on, at over 30cm:
Still have the Kohaku from that first pic, it hasn't grown too well (maybe around 33cm now at Sansai), but it has turned out really attractive and has a "big fish" pattern that seems to improve as it slowly grows.
I'll have a guess from your photos that the Kohaku grows fastest.... Be really interesting to see the development of both.Last edited by RS2OOO; 31-12-2019 at 05:11 PM.

are you an undercover agent?! i have to have a facebook page to have a business facebook page to have a business instagram page, thats the only reason i have one or id have binned it off a long time ago but it does seem thats the way everything is going, everything is facebook orientated now, websites and forums tend to get left behind. That one does look similar

@RS2OOO - that is a big change on the Sanke.
How is it looking now? I’m looking forward to see how my little ones develop. I need to get my bio sorted so I can feed at decent amounts without spiking!

RS i chose the kohaku as it was the one with the widest head and biggest mouth of the bunch, the sanke was my 2nd choice of sanke just on pattern, as a kohaku its a decent 3 step more sumi than id like but see what happens

The Kohaku is my favourite of the 2.
I also like the Sanke because it looks like the fish will grow into the pattern, but that didn't happen to my Sakai Sanke so who knows.
Wish you the best of luck in the comp and looking forward to seeing the development.

sakai grow on competition
I got this little Tancho at a tosai event at cutttlebrook koi in November. He has not seemed to have grown at all, I have not actively seen him eat either. Do some just not develop.. I read it’s hugely likely he will lose his spot he is currently about 4 inches. I thought for £5 I would give him a go
