Help with air getting into pump from bio chamber

Whilst Iíve got air churning media in my bio I seem pump seems to be pulling air in if I turn air off in my bio it stops straight away Iíve got a 45 litre air pump on the bio just turning hel x media nice not like a jacuzzi itís a jbr plastics bio 2 4 inch inlets one 2 inch outlet 85 cms high 60 cms wide by 50 cms depth I changed the large diffuser for an absolute koi 50 cm air micro bubbler which Iíve got laid flat in bottom which is better than with big round air diffuser but still pulling in air any ideas if I slow my flow it helps but then Iím not getting the turnover drain and skimmer into drum not pulling as much of you can understand what I mean

You mean your pump sucks out the water in your chamber faster than it gets supplied via the skimmer and drain if you turn it up?

Seems to me the bubbler is too close to the 2ins feed pipe to the pump, can you raise the bubbler?
Maybe pull on the airline to lift it up further than the exit pipe.

Ideally you would want it higher than the pipe, maybe tie it up with something or shorten the air line but would tie it first to see if it works Dave.

Thanx the big diffuser in bottom is screwed into a 3/4 female adaptor if I buy a 3/4 male to 3/4 female adaptor and screw into adaptor that should raise diffuser about an inch would that work or maybe screw 2 together and that would give more height adaptors are like ones in picture or should I just leave large air microbubbler in there pics of adaptors545C6FD2-41D2-4CB8-8633-0AF134DC67A2-1172-000000B9F85C8D65.png

    Hi Dave,
Is it a flexi pipe or solid.?
A picture may help, if flexi cant you just cut some off.
Good to hear it has solved the problem.

you could place a foam sponge around the outlet pipes inside the filter. filtreau use to do this on their moving bed filter for the same problem. they now fit the returns near the bottom of the filters to combat the problem . so that might also be what you need to do mate

The picture is a tap adapter, BSP thread sizes.
I don't think you would gain an inch maybe 1/2"or 3/4"
That bit isn't going to be to much of a concern but better do it in plastic or some other way rather than adding metal into your filter. Or do it in stainless steel.

Help with air getting into pump from bio chamber

Itís brass not copper and I thought that was ok but will see if I can get the same fitting in plastic 2 put together would raise the diffuser height in bottom about 2 inch the diffuser in bottom is fixed on position and is way oversized itís a 10 inch one nearly fills the bottom of my bio Iím going to unscrew it if I can reach into bottom and replace with a smaller one and lift it with 2 of the fitting
