I did a similar thing about 20 years ago and I still have the same covers. Albeit with some frame replacement through rot but they make such a difference especially if you are keeping the fish warm.

Looks like Barney worked his paws off whilst you assisted our dog Missie sits by me when i am working in the garden and DIY. Have been laying a new raised sitting area and when mixing mortar she lies by the bags of sand , then follows the barrow up the garden and lies by the area i am working on. Its like quality control and when the Mrs comes to have a look she praises Missie on how hard she has worked

the covers look good by the way
When I’m dead I hope my Mrs doesn’t sell my fishing gear for what I told her they cost!

Hi DTF Unsure of the tapes actual properties, all I can tell you is that it is quite thick and you need to cut with scissors, its waterproof and for this application it worked well, it does not like sticking to anything foil backed though, Heavy duty Hippo tape......heavy duty TREX tape is very similar, cheers Steve.

thanks, yes my boy is the same he follows me every where bless him, he is good company mind as he never questions what I am doing or tells me to do it differently lol, but he does like to lay where I am working, he usually moves and lays down where your next expecting him to be and you end up falling AOT !

Just had my 35mm polycarbonate sheets delivered.
    3 - 2.5mtrs x 1.05mtrs
got them from Varico ltd £210 for all 3 panels.
    https://www.varicoltd.com/

might have to just chuck them on until i get chance to make a frame as temps are set to drop tonight

well i literally chucked the polycarbonate over pond temporary like.... supposed to be 4C overnight here
only one week since the end of summer ...and we're nearly getting frost temps

the 35mm poly is quite ridged,
i could even get away without timber spanning the pond and just make a frame for the edge...

your pond looks very nice mate, yes I put my covers on a few days ago and with the colder temps and northerly winds due tonight I have put my window cover on too this evening, trying to protect the 16 degrees in my pond as much as possible....

    Thanks,
still running mine at 22C atm.
as the heater mainly comes on at night and economy 7 makes it reasonable.
but that may change if the weather drops cold real quick. and run at a more sensible range.
especially if the heater runs all day long.

on the plus side the fish are very active and loving it...
there's steam coming off the water when i take the covers off in the morning, it's like they're in a hot tub lol!

    Smartin,

Could you link to where you got your polycarb and all the accessories like the buttons and tape etc from?

Is it 35mm polycarb you used?

What did you use to secure it to the pond to stop it blowing away?

Pretty sure you've previously answered all the above questions, but there are so many polycarb threads with your name all over them I gave up searching lol.

    Cheers.
