I have a lot of sums to do to follow up on this thread!
Promised to do so about 2 years ago, and still haven't found the time to get the calculator out.
Have a couple of days off work in June so I shall make every effort to see if any patterns across everyone's different set ups.
Must have been a while since I first started the thread mind, aside from my tiny 45cm Shusui who's only just started eating for the first time in 7 years, think my smallest koi now are mid 50's. The ones that were under 30cm when I started the thread are over 60cm now!
I do now have a maximum pond stocking formula that allows for easy maintenance whilst keeping the pond looking well stocked and it's along the lines of 55cm of koi to 1000 litres of water.Last edited by RS2OOO; 10-05-2025 at 07:19 PM.

Pond capacity: 21,000l
How many koi over 60cm: 12
How many koi under 30cm: 1
Main filtration unit: Ultrasieve 3, Nexus 220, DIY K1. 100l K1 in total. 80w Amalgam.
Have you had to treat for parasites/bacterial infections (exc. injuries) in the last 12 months, if so, how many times: No
Heated/unheated: Unheated
Approx water change % per Week/Month: ~5% per week
Age of Pond: 14 Years (many mods over that time!)
