Duratech heatpump
I have had a duratech + heatpump for around four years now
without having any problems with it. It has developed a problem in that the fan will not come on when heating up the water. I was wondering if anyone knows of a heatpump engineer that could come and have a look at it for me in Cheshire area near Chester. I have tried the outlet that sold it to me but they cannot get hold of anyone to have a look at it for me.

I bought mine from 'heatpumps4pools' and they have a good after sales service.
Might be worth a try to contact via their website or call 08844-8806749 or 01268-206560

That's where I got mine from and I have already been in touch with them.

Try a local refrigeration repair engineer, a heat pump is basically a fridge running backwards, and probably a lot simpler. If you look at the manual, there are only 32 components that make up the entire thing. Heatpump4pools may not be able to send anyone out, but they can send out a spare part pretty quick. I needed a new pressure switch and they sent a new one within 48 hours.

It's a bit worrying when you say they can't send anyone out, I've always been confident that if I had an issue with my heatpump, they could send out a repair guy to sort it, that's what it says on the web site. Did they say that no one was available at the moment, or not in your area, or just not interested?

I got in touch with them at the start of last week and they said they had tried to find a engineer to come out to me but none had the capacity to do so. They said they would keep on trying for me but in the meantime I should try a swimming pool engineer in my area to see if they could fix it.

Davey,
I live in Essex near to the Dartford Crossing so popping in to fix this problem isn't practical but I may be able to help if you or someone else feels competent to do some basic tests.
Below is a diagram of the Duratech control system and it's likely that the flow switch (FS) isn't operating. It's connected from terminals DI 02 to the adjacent GND terminal.
With the power to the unit disconnected, locate these terminals and verify that they go to the flow switch.
If this is correct then (with the power still off) simply remove these wires from DI 02 and GND and replace with a wire link.
Switch on and, if the fan runs, you will have proved that the flow switch is either faulty or not operating due to insufficient flow through the unit.
You can leave it running with the flow switch bypassed long enough to verify that the compressor kicks in after the usual delay BUT NO LONGER.
If the operation appears to be normal and you are sure that the flow rate is adequate then all you need to do is to replace the flow switch.
