    Evening all,

I have used CBA with good results but it knocked my filter for a long time, since doing some digging around for the past two treatments I have used nbs vite and this product I have found to be superb. Also a much cheaper alternative!

Hi I looked at cba I was told your filter is ok on this treatment. Thats why I shy away from any blanket weed treatment I need to be sure its 100% filter safe I don't like knocking filter back such a pain to get it going again.

It's s new one to me about the filters being knocked back but I also do 5% water changes every two days for a week too:-)

Got to say I've never experienced any filter knock back when I've used CBA.

Full dose of kusuri gold has knocked my filters back. Twice. Cba used to aswell. Half dose of kusuri and a small top up a week of kusuri pure keeps it at bay

    viresco koi

    Hi All,
I have used cloverleaf blanket answer in the past but last year saw viresco koi in a aquatic shop so decided to give it a try, I was really impressed with the results & only used 1 dose all year, it comes in a powder form that looks abit like grass cuttings you put in a bucket with air stone in over night then pour in the pond

    cheers eddy

Now I am not a perfect water keeper still very much learning even after ten years of koi keeping! How ever I have not and will not ever treat blanket weed with CBA I have used pond balance for the past 8 years very successfully how ever up till now this has much been a band aid for the problem! I am in the process of re-designing the pond and adding veggie / anoxic filter so that the nitrate and phosphate are reduced taking away what it grows from!

    Hi Kelv
Out of interest what's your objection to using CBA?
I've never used Pond Balance myself, isn't it basically just salt?

Just don't like stuff that your effectively guessing at the amount to use everything I have read suggest that it needs reviewing for the amount to dose! Plus I am also someone that does not grab chemicals and treat the whole pond!

Hi I can't bring myself to use any blanket weed treatment yet I just twiddle once a week. I need to find a blanket weed treatment that dont touch filter I look at tetra algofin as it dont hit filters back good reviews for it. I twiddle weed back to pond walls but a treatment would be better. I don't like hitting filters back its not so much the ammonia its the nitrite reading hangs ages.

    Hi Eddy,
how much did you purchase and how much was it, I just purchased this small 10g bag for £27 and gonna try it tomorrow, They say it kills it and eats it within 5 days & It should last all year, my walls and my window are getting real bad now

    Hi Tommy,
I purchased the 5g size as my pond is only 2500 gallons it was about £15,

    cheers eddy

Hi Eddy. My pond is similar in size to yours. Did you use this at full strength? I ve only used Cloverleaf before, so at half strength. xx

  14. #34
    Hi Viv,
sorry for the late reply yes I used the full dose last year & was really happy with the results, I ordered some more at £15 for 5grams came yesterday so put in bucket this morning before work with a air stone then after work it had turned a brown colour so just poured it in the pond,

    cheers eddy
