January show and grow updates
well i know it may not be ideal for everyone but we are due our latest Show and grow Photo's this next month (Jan). so if you fancy getting out there over the next few days catching your shiro's up and taking the pics it would be really great to have an update. tbh honest this is normally the update that not many people participate in so this comp only works if you guys want to...
talking of the competition. it seekms to ba falling a little flat on its face. As Ed's koi has died ive not touched base with him as to who we could get to judge these..... so unless anything else comes up it will be judged by ourselves... anyone else got any ideas?
Also i was Hopeing that Lazerus was going to have provided the Trophy by now but its not shown its face... so i'm not sure what to do here as it would be nice to have an Extreme trophy.
its always the hardest at this time of year to get motivated to do anything but lets see if we can at least see this grow and show competition through.
thanks in Anticipation... oh and as a side note...
the ones ive seen in the flesh are looking bloody lovely.

Morning Lau
Happy Christmas pal, you auditioning for a part in Snow White?
Think we can sort a few pics of progress.
As to a Judge, think this could possibly be arranged - provided we get some decent final pics

Unless weather takes a downturn will get my little one out... ummm the shiro too Had a peek at what was happening yesterday and all seem to be happy and looking for turkey .
Judging... as its an extreme comp maybe should be extreme members score it on which one they would like in their pond... doesn't matter whether they took part in last years or not it is an Extreme comp?
Falling flat... dont think so my mate - I totally sympathise with those that have lost a fish, hurts deep at best of times :/. Has happened to me on first G $ S - these are living creatures and life and death happens but always hurts :/.
Putting them into a single vat and judging live would be perfect... except that we are all wary of catching something... single vat then quarantine for later pick up.... ok you wanted suggestions there ya go :P

Well here is some pictures of my shiro, its measuring XXcm right now and i believe will be a really nice fish in time. the white is awesome, just hope the sumi blacks up better in time. i like the stripes coming in the two front fins. not the best of pics taken.

Thanks Dave
You did say from the start of this show and grow it was going to be a good fish, its nice to see how the pattern is coming out of it. this could well be one of my best buys so far, and being a big lover of shiro's even better lol. not to sure on the growth rate but from what size it was when we got them im very happy so far.

Love the way you posted pics Dave really like seeing the changes without having to flip pages or something heh - will try and copy. Some really nice fish, and Mark man that looks full of promise, can def see the sumi coming thick and strong in time and being special but looking great as is kind of like the kage effect!

Dave well done too i leave you under control for editing all the pic's then mate and seeing if you can do the same presentation as you have with yours to all of them.(see you shouldnt be so bloody good....
anyway as i said i popped out between rain showers today and here is Gavin's shiro first this koi had developed early and i was a little worried about it finishing too soon, however still looking a nice koi with great skin.

imgthen there is my shiro grown 5cm bigger than gavins in the same space of time and pond but still not developed yet. not sure if the photo's will show the skin quality but it is really good, body shape is nice and although the sumi is nowhere near developed enough yet it is coming and have seen quite a bit more come through recently

Here is the latest photo of my koi.growing OK, waiting for the sumi on the head to join up should improve when it does.
As for judging would it not be possible for the koi to be brought to a central location everyone bring their own display bowl and swim them. all members there could have a secret ballot to decide the best developement, largest size by actual measurement, two prizes. The host would only need to arange a vat of fresh water and oxegen to rebag the fish for the journey home.Just a thought George
