Familymans grow n show progress thread ( or lack of )
Thought id make a dedicated thread for my grow n show shiro utsuri from Absolute koi, not to detract from the original thread, but it will become very hard to track every bodys fish, if they are all on one thread with loads of pages to search through.
so heres my fish.......in the 1st pic my grow n show is the middle fish and was number 39, the one to the right is another i brought ( not included in the official grow n show), and was number 33, the one to the left is one my good friend blue harbour brought, number 26.

My 2 are in a new indoor grow on pond, that I literally just finished building this week, 600 gallons, currently at 19.2 c, food is Dai Suki growth, and the fish are approx 18 / 19 cm.
Filter and everything is new, so I hope to counter new pond syndrome by removing some mature media from my main pond filter and using it in my new grow on filter.
Thanks to everyone who helped make it a great day.

Thanks Andy.
Dang these shiros have appetites like piranhas, ive never had such hungry fish and that includes my chags .
They learnt very quickly where food comes from and they don't seem to leave that spot !
They've definitely gained some girth and depth too, in the last 2 weeks, just hope I don't end up with shiros like rugby balls.

has yours had any sumi come out or change, mine haven't...... they appeared to have more sumi on the picking day, than in the pictures posted a week or so earlier, showing how they can change quickly.

My 2 shiro are doing quite differently now, my grow n show fish just seems to have lost his appetite for a good while now, he seems completely healthy and happy as far as I can tell, just eating very little. The other one is a nutter for the food 24\7 and so consequently is about a 3\rd larger now, flipping guaranteed isnt it. I still think my grow n show fish will be the nicer fish though, its completely white with underlying sumo in a really nice pattern, to my eye anyway, were as the other is just 90 percent black now, so how pretty can it be?

P.s I went to see Adam last week and his are doing very well, he's just playing it coy👍

Mine lost its sumi altogether, although you can see vaguely where it is underneath. However it's now starting to slowly come back in places. I don't think my colour food has helped the quality of the white too much- it has a yellowish tinge at the moment. Mine has a nice big frame though- it's got the jumbo jet style bulge above it's head thing going on.

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
