Extreme Koi - Show and Grow 2011 - Discussion Thread

how do the members feel about a show and grow for this year , starting in march , having a mid year pic and mesurement , and then a show down in october , when the temps are cool and the koi look there best .

its really easy , you just need one of those tape measures that go in the bottom of a koi bowl or container , photograph the fish , so a measurement can be seen clearly .

just put down the age of the fish , breeder if known

we'l go on size gain and overall improvement of the koi , but the size comes first

upto the members really , on how many they want to enter ?? i would say max of 3 ??

    Hiya folks.
I'm up for it, if things go as I would like. Just need to finish building the pond, buy a fish, hope that the NPS isn't too bad, hope the thing doesn't die in the first few months, etc etc

Would the said fish need to be a certain size or anything ? And, does it have to be right at the beginning of March ? Oh yeah, can there be some kind of handicapping, cos YOU two have those Bakki Shower and R/O thingies

    Cheers...Freddy.

COUNT ME IN!!! I dont think it's base on what equipment we use as steve has said the judging will be done in october when therer at there best ..
Basically you can grow them too quick stretching them and making the pattern look awful yeah it might be the biggest but it will also be the ugliest.....then again thats how the wife won me

i'l sit down and right up a guide ,

dont see any problems with enteries after march , they can still be compaired to the original photo , and an average of cm per week or month can be worked out .

    just found the answer, lol

the trick is , sort the water out , low stocking levels or high water changes , and buy koi that come from lines where fish grow to 90, 100cm or a touch bigger .

think that come from you steve lol pmsl.
