Aquarium for fry
I'm a fry myself when it comes to koi.
I have an aquarium with 15 fry in it.
They are 3 weeks old.
I have an air-stone, algae and rocks.
I clean it and empty 25% of the water once a week.
I feed them twice a day with dry flakes grounded up in the morning and brine shrimp in the evening.
How's this?
Anything else I should do to help them survive?
Thanks.

Hiya
You will need some filtration or the ability to exchange water on a constant basis.. keeping the water sweet is the priority.
If there isnt an overflow in the tank then you could rig up a mini version of this;http://www.koiforum.co.uk/diy-tips-t...-fed-pond.html
Not sure what size aquarium but expect to have to exchange a lot more water, particularly if there is no filtration, if its going in and flowing out on a regular basis then you will avoid big swings in the water temp.
For fish of that age Ive found that newly hatched out brine shrimp is an ideal food. An alternate is the Queni Koi range of fry feed that caters for all ages..QK FRY FOOD RANGE

Fish swimming weird
I have a filter and am changing 25% of the water every other day.
Now I'm losing fish.
Lost 3 of the 15.
They start swimming like they have no control, floating, twirling then start swimming normal for a bit. Looks like their back is arching too.
Any ideas what to do?
Thanks as always.

You are dechlorinating the new water right?
I have never raised koi fry but i have raised orfe from eggs. I fed them something called Cyclops to start with. Then moved on to daphnia then bloodworms. All purchased in frozen blister packs from any aquatic shop. It was weeks before i tried dried food
Is your filter like the one in the picture? With that sort of filter, they cannot be sucked into it.
I think my orfe fry may have survived by luck but what i did was....
Removed eggs from the pond and put them in a 20 litre (yep 20 litres...go larger if you can) tank along with the blanket weed and elodea crispa that they were attached to.
To start with, i added an airstone but all it did was move the plants and blanket weed around the tank.
I realised that the current from the airstone could drag a fry into the aquarium wall fast enough to kill it. So i shortened the airline so the airstone was about an inch below the surface.
Then i ordered a filter like the one in the picture. They come in different sizes. I got one where the top of the tube was an inch below the surface.
Once the orfe started to hatch, i turned the air right down. But you do still need some to pull the water through the filter.
I had to change water in a painstaking way that i'm too tired to describe.
Not long after they began to hatch i quickly realised i'd need something larger to keep them in. My friend was having a bathroom fitted so i put his old bath in the garden and kept the fry in there until the end of the autumn. I designed and built a little 2 stage filter running off a fountain pump. I made a cage for the pump so that no fry got sucked in. From May when they went into the bath, i had n9 casualties until December.
In October, i moved the fry into the middle pond. I lost a lot due to the extreme winter of 2010 but i still had 50 or so.

Whilst using water from the pond may seem nice and natural doing so brings with it the risk of introducing parasites etc taht the pond fish are immune to but can quickly run through the fry..
Starting point however is as always , what is the ammonia and nitrite level in the tank?

I had the water tested at a pet store and everything is good.
