i need to learn how to take a pic like that. well done mate.
I'd love to say it's all skill, but a decent camera is a must! Thanks though, I want to take some more so you guys can identify my fish! 😎

I've got a Canon DSLR too, you've inspired me to get it out instead of snapping with my phone!
Great picture :)
I've been doing a lot of phone shots, but if you enjoy manual mode on your camera, get out there and have a play, I took some amazing shots in the sun today :)

Me to john but like you I have my phone with me in the garden so it always gets used what I need to do is get the camera out and get a few of the fish and pond instead of using my phone
By the way pod nice pic I love my cannon 550 but don't use it as much as I should
Very nice.... u even managed a smile!

It's a great shot :)
I bought a polarising lens for our Canon 40D to help get rid of surface reflections but haven't really taken getting pics of the koi seriously as yet. It's so much easier when they are in a blue bowl, but that's no good for natural and 'character' shots like yours!
I have been advised to get a polariser - great minds think alike ;)

I keep a pair of polarising glasses by the pond to wear when I'm looking at the fish too, they make an enormous difference :D
Now that's a clever idea! I still think I need scuba gear to see my fish until the pond clears up :(

i think i need a camera that the fish don`t have to stay still for 4 mins at a time. it might be easier painting them to be honest
Honestly Vince, if you have a DSLR camera, you can set the shutter speed. I was snapping at 1/250th to 1/400th of a second so you don't have to hang around waiting for the perfect shot :)

not had chance this year to update the footage as there have been a few fish and pond changes

I watch my koi on live TV all the time from my networked Raspberry PI camera in a jar in the pond. I would highly recommend setting up an underwater camera, the fish are great to watch and make the best screen saver ever on your TV :)
I did this so I could keep my eye on them with the winter covers on, but I'm still using it now as I get a totally different view of my fish up close under water than from pond side.

and thats a great idea Lara, where did you purchase that from if you dont mind me asking, and what price do they go for.
Ordered my polarising filters yesterday for my 55mm and 62mm macro, so should have some awesome pics to upload soon :)
