Thanks, I am pleased with them. They are currently in a 16ft by 5.5ft by 3ft deep pond. I am going to build a 21.5ft by 6ft by 5ft deep pond in May. They should all be even happier then. They are all Israeli Koi, I will not mix and always get them from the same dealer.

not bad for Israeli koi the quailty of koi breed anywhere now it is really hard to tell where they come from .... :o :o :o :o

Totally agree. I had a major amonia problem last year and lost a fortune in Koi. Someone at the local Koi club said to me in conversation " If you can't afford to lose it, don't buy it". That stuck with me and when i found the dealer I use and saw the prices of Israeli Koi and quality i decided to go with it. I know all that is said about them having KHV, but was told the likelyhood of that was minimal and even more so if I only kept koi from the same region.

Thats right. But some people still have a phobia about anything other than Japanese. I agree that they are still a fair way ahead of the rest of the world in quality. But as long as you use a reputable dealer then you should have no problems. I love them to bits and also have a 26" Chagoi who is the biggest pig and spends all of his time following who ever is walking by the pond with his mouth open. We call him shaggy. Me and the missus are hooked on the hobby and all of them have a name.

hi jono
nice koi .there is a intresting site regarding khv and ron cravens court case against tmi Â*fish farm www.koiherpesvirus.co.uk Â*i think its more a case of bad quartine and facilitys than region or country so a good dealer is the most important thing also a very good article on the importance of quratine .cheers paul

Without boring you, the Shusui is called "Huey", The Showa is called "Flash" thats because he struts around the pond knowing full well he looks good. The Hariwaki is calles "Harriett" because she is a girl and we also have a Sanke who is called "Bulldog" he is called this because everytime we introduce a new fish he follows it around and hastles it to remind he was the first in this pond and that he is the daddy. :D ::)

I have been looking at the other members pictures of their Koi and have to say that there are some real nice ones. I haven't seen a bad one yet and if could afford to have a lake in my garden I am sure I could still overstock it with Koi.

yep the dark ones and tea coloured ones are chagois, one of them looks like a ochibe. The silver ones I am not sure what they are and finally the only goldfish which I rescued from father in laws shallow vegetable pond. He was only a tiddler but has done well, he will be returned in the summer.

koiman[madabtkoi]

i tell you once the summer comes there will be no stopping those little chags i had four of them in the tank and had to sell three as within three months they out grew the tank i have one gin rin chag left and he/she is growing fast and so tame you would not believe i can put my finger in and stoke it like i would a dog...
