Lily not doing well?
Hi all
recently built a pond garden as an add on to my main pond four of the plants seem to be doing very well but the lily in the middle not so, it’s grown new leaves since going in but as soon as they reach full size, they die off to be replaced by another, bought the larger variety with the idea it would cover the pond and shade the water from direct sunlight but it’s not happening at the moment, I’m running approx 4,000lph through this pond on advice from others, is this to much for the lily, my other plants are in the corners so out of the direct flow?

Two things that lilies don't like is moving water and being planted at the wrong water depth. You could try moving it to an area where there is the least water movement and, if you know the variety, you could look up the correct depth. If it's one of the larger varieties, it probably needs to be fairly deep.

Thats just what they do when they're new. I'd just leave them be and see what they're like later in the summer. Probably won't be like what's in your minds eye until next summer. A Lily that covers a whole pond will have a rhizome the size of a football. I just split one up that had filled a 2x1x1 foot tub up entirely. Almost nothing else in it
