The 2 plants looked a bit limp for a couple of days after putting them in the tub of water but they seem to be picking up a bit now

I have Arum Lillies in my wildlife pond with various carp and they are Ok no issues
1000 gal
2 x Hozelock 6000ltr 9W UV
Allpond Spin Filter 8000 11W UV
Blagdon pond oxy 640 ltr/hr

I wouldn’t worry about being poisonous to cats, not a cat lover anyway. Seriously, unlike humans, animals ain’t that stupid, they know what’s not good for them, a lot of plants are poisonous to animals if they eat them, they’d only eat them if they were absolutely starving,

I hate duckweed. Water lettuce (Pistia Stratiates) is a nicer alternative. I used to have it in my snakehead aquariums. Destroys nitrate and when it gets a bit past it the leaves start to yellow and you just pluck it out. I'm sure the koi would probably eat it, same as the duckweed.
