    My water Hibiscus

    Here are the three varieties of Hibiscus I planted about three months ago in the bogs, 3-5" water above the gravel
    Hibiscis carousel red wine, Hibiscus coccineus and Hibiscus moscheutos

    First of all hibiscus like to be in full sun, otherwise no matter the climate they will struggle to thrive. These are varieties far more resistent than the more ornamental H rosa sinensis and derivatives, they are frost resistent but in the north of England I would probably though keep them in a pot and shelter them maybe December to March then plonk the pots back in the water knowing that a late frost would not harm them too much. Then you can enjoy them flowering summer and autumn without having to water them

    Coccineus and moscheutos are the official species name, carousel is probably a proprietary hybrid. Another water suitable one is Hibiscus militaris
