Johnathan, I had a Red dragonfly around my pond today, I got quite excited as I haven't had / noticed one
before, but apparently they're quite common a bit like me really .

The one I was seeing by the pond is called a Banded Demoiselle (male), apparently.

It says they hang around muddy streams, but not ponds, so it must have took a wrong turning off the thames to get to my garden.

I get the odd one that doesn't stay. However close to us is a small brook.

We do a sponsored walk as a family every year through old disused peat mine's. It has a large stagnant lake on it and this year there was swarms of Dragon flies. They where stunning. Never seen anything like it so many in one place. Conditions must of been good for them.

    Great looking insects.

Had this beast in the kitchen recently and have seen a couple more outside in the garden.
Seen some giant ones out in France, this rivalled those, it was at least 100mm long. Fantastic creature.

    Found this on my shed.

Never seen anything like it before, could be some sort of Moth, but if you look closely it has 2 teeth sticking out:

Yeah, it looks like one of those cute things that turns into a gremlin.

I tried to identify it on a UK moth website but they didn't have anything similar so I emailed them a pic.

That's what the 2 little white fangs look like. No idea what they are, but zooming in on the original hi res photo and they look like teeth!
