I think it can last indefinitely if there are enough nutrients in the water for it to feed on, and the pond is not too cold.

Have you used a blanket weed treatment? The way they work means that many of them are mildly toxic to all plants.

I think I read on Manky's Web page that you need to thin it out so it keeps on growing strongly. Do you thin yours or leave it to overrun itself?

I tend to cut mine back once a month, and has been growing well since early April.

I used to cut the roots back on mine almost every day as they used to block the outlet of the tub it was in and cause it to over flow.
In the summer I would cut the leaves and stalks back every week and maybe once a month in early spring and late autumn then it would just stop growing in the winter but never actually died off.

did it flower?
you want to keep cropping it and even if your not in the mood for cress in your food chop it back to stop it flowering, once it flowers the plant goes bitter if your eating it and there is not much need in the plant putting out vigorous growth as its reach its goalthe slow pond build thread
