cheapest i get is from herrons ebay 150gs £13.90 . i dont worry about soaking first , frozen might be an alternative for you , i use both frozen and dried , i think the dried is better as whilst going throught the freeze dry process it it keeps most of its nutrition but any nasties in it are got rid of in the freeze drying

evening every body hope everyone is happy today , so second to last sort out done today (no fish are being culled !)
my pictures are not the best , 99% of the fish i have kept are because i liked the colours of , two were removed due to curved spine and missing gill flap ,
i now have 59 tri colour in one and 55 whiteish in other , when i choose my twelve for each to grow on i will ask my very good friend to come round and take some individual pics .
i am really happy and relieved that the fish have so far come on brilliantly

the largest tri colour and white and gold are just under 5" , the tanks look empty now lol , i still keeping temps at 25c , some of the little guys were only just over an inch , have kept about two dozen of the little guys to grow on for a couple more months ,
i do have a question for everyone please and that is if i feed the blood worm as half there main diet , will that be healthy for them , i used to use it a lot to bring on my aquarium fish many years ago , but wanted to make sure i not doing bad by them , i still have not put the other filter on , was going to be done yesterday but took nearly all day thinning them out , as said the tanks look empty now , i think my favourites are the gold and white ones and the black and silver ones , but also like the silver one that sparkles lol ,
glad urs have picked up mate and will be good to see yours if the rain holds off for pics lol

You've done so well to get to where you're at now with these, pretty impressive for someone relatively new to the hobby and the work that's gone into it can't be underestimated.

Not sure about bloodworms nutritional value especially dried vs frozen / live etc, but it is what they'd eat in the wild.

Found this on a packet of frozen blood worm which also shows protein dried, as I believe it's dried bloodworm you're feeding:

    Guaranteed Analysis
    Crude Protein (min) 8.3%
    Crude Fat (min) 1.2%
    Crude Fiber (max) 3.9%
    Moisture (max) 81.7%
(Protein as a percentage of dry matter - 45.3%)

ty rs , i certainly did underestimate the amount of time that goes into rearing the fry , but i have to admit i have really enjoyed the journey so far , still a long way to go with the fry i am going to bring on through the winter . i think i have made a rod for my own back by giving them so much blood worm but feeding times are way more interesting lol , i think i will keep feeding them everything , orange slices , lettuce , fry food , chopped/whole muscles , freeze dried/frozen blood worm, occasional sprinkle of spirulina powder , they will soon eat the fry food if they get hungry lol
just want to say a massive ty to all who have helped and for all the info that has been posted over the years , without that information i very much doubt i would have such healthy beautiful looking young koi in the tanks i have now , and they amaze me how they are still transforming into such stunning fish , i had a lot of the white ones and have kept just a few , really surprised to see the lovely gold colours coming through them , i know there is names for them but i that side is a minefield best left alone till i have more brain space to cope with it lol ,
really good to hear your little ones are on the up mate , one thing i might do is put a holding net in each and keep them in that untill i make my final sellection , now that there numbers have gone down they are a little edgy with me at feeding times , i am going to get a little bike bell to ring before each feeding time , see how it goes .
    ty again
