Hello from Notts/Lincs
Hi, we inherited 10 koi, 2 golden sterlets , and 3 golden orfes . We moved them from my Mums to my house but not before introducing another 15 small fish . 2 diamond back surgeon, 2 Siberian surgeon, 2 shubunkins, , 2 goldfish, and 7 koi.
The pond we now have them in is approx 18000 l with a new nexus 320 fed by aquamax classic 11500 and a big 60 gal grog stone box fed from the skimmer which came from the old pond.
We're in the process of fighting back the nitrite until the nexus matures.
It's been a 6 month learning curve and hope to learn more from you experienced guys.
Ps I have never had fish before but am now hooked lol

Hi bud, 2 years ?? Dam I hope not lol. I read somewhere that adding some salt will cut down the nitrite irritation to the fish. Anyone got any thoughts on this ? Cheers

Salt does help. But the problem there. Is to take the salt out. It take a lot of water changes to get the salt diluted out.
Some put a cupful a week in
There ponds. Some one i know swears by it. On his 9000gallon pond.
And his fish are in great health.
The other problem with salt. Is that if you have to put medication in the pond. You might have a problem.
As some medications are ok. And some you cannot have salt in the water.
You would need a salt meter as well.
Look at manky sanky site. All there about water. For the pond.
He uses this site. Syds his name.
