Normal solvent weld from any plumbers merchant is what I used and never had any problems.
as for the linr any pond safe silicon is suitable, I used MS 290 as recommended by Feline and didn’t have a problem with it I even keep a couple of tubes in the shed just in case.

Solvent glue does dry out inn the tub, so if you've had it for a while might not be any good.
Especially working with 4" you have to be quick!
So make sure the solvent is runny, if you have the solvent cleaner you can use it to revive a glue that's starting to go tacky.
Compared to the other costs a new tub of solvent isn't to bad.

    Welcome to the forum Binary.

Just to answer your unanswered question, I would say yes to using concrete around (and under) the bottom drain.

The rest of the base can be soft sand if using a liner.

A box welded liner will definitely fit and look much better than a non-moulded type. They may seem expensive initially, but they are far cheaper than fibreglassing, far easier to fit snugly, and they still look good when fitted nice and snug.

no need to worry about doing a mix with 3 to 1 ratio, its absolutely fine, infact in some ways its better than 4 to 1, and personally I wouldnt use 5 to 1, too weak imo.

    hi guys...

just was wondering for some help as i have been struggling to try and find out what pumps i need for my 2nd hand nexus 200.

so my pond is around 5700 litres in volume.
so im guessing a 10000 lph pump would be fine. any suggestions of a good pump.
i dont want to break the bank but at same time something reliable would be great.

also any suggestion for air pump. currently have a hozelock 45 which i believe is not powerful enough.. i was looking at doubling the power of that.. i have been looking at evolution aqua 95.. any other recommendations would be welcomed..

also i have not added an overflow to my pond build in the event of it pissing down (i do live in wales)
this has recently come to me as an afterthought.
i was wondering if this can be modified to the filter if possible... i dont fancy messing about with liner again...

worth mentioning i have it all on a gravity system

any feedback would be greatly appreciated

    thanks
    ryan

Are you having an in wall skimmer? If so I put mine in there just drilled a 1 inch hole and put in a 90 degree solvent weld bend but did not weld the top pipe so this can be pulled out and adjusted to get your perfect water level. Not explained very well but really easy to do.

I would definitely add a skimmer at this stage. I was dead against putting one in my pond in the build stage but one of the guys on here convinced me to add one. Now I can honestly say it is one of the best things I could have done. the amount of waste they take out is unbelievable.

Just to back up whats already been said , Ryan , don't worry your pond`s plenty strong enough . If you ever have to knock one down , you`ll see exactly what I mean .

My pond`s a bit bigger than yours , and on the top few courses I went for the 6" blocks laid conventionally , and its never been an issue .

Good luck with the rest of your build - its looking good !

Have a look at these, best with a variable maybe the 15000, can turn it down if needed and the post needs to be put on.
When going on their site go to the top rgt corner and select England and pounds on their UK site.
