i just mixed up one litre with 125 grams of st. this will be my top up solution on waterchanges. i will then use 2.5ml per 100 litres of water..
i worked it all out and this ties in to the 16grams per 5500 litres you mentioned earlier....
so nice one freddy.. will order the d2pd

nice one mate. good when a plan starts coming together. the pond build is the easy bit. the hard part is now mate. getting water right and slowly maturing the filters.
and keeping the fish healthy.
remember to keep asking questions and listen to john on the low kh issue, he does that every day where as I don t need to.
enjoy mate

hiya john..
yeah fish are doing fine.. eating like they are at an all u can eat buffet...
still testing water and doing water changes.. the filter is taking a while to cycle..... been up n running for around 6 wks now.. and still no nitrite yet....
current levels are..
ammo 0.25
nitrite 0
nitrate 0...
i am water changing 10% regularly to try and keep the ammo down... when i had a marine tank i had nitrates within 3 to 4 weeks...
not sure why its taking so long to get nitrites... im blaming the nexus and lots of new k1..
my ph has dropped recently to 7.6....
so i am waiting for bicarbonate of soda to arrive as we speak to bump this up....
but fish seem fine and are full of energy..
and are not trying to swim down bottom drain

nice one mate sounds like your doing things right. remember mate its the whole pond that has to mature not just the filter. mine took 18 months to mature. a lot more water and pond area then a fish tank.
it just takes time mate. did you PP your k1 first, to help it. going by what your saying the fish sound happy enough lol. enjoy it mate. I tested my water parameters all the time for 18 months. now I do it once a week.
as now I trust the pond. this week though I will be testing every day. because of using MG&F. because of white spot . be patient it will come the nitrite spike.

nice one mate. great the kids are learning as well lol. my four year old grandson did my tests 2 days ago. haha . I must of used half a bottol of the stuff on each test. but I love to see there faces when there involved.
I don t know about plants in main pond. mine are all in my top pond. the iris is the best plant I have bought for there. they mature very quickly. I have lillys in there. and dutch bull rushes, great for the nitrates.
I only usr pebbles in the baskets. the plants grow on the nutrents out the water.

Hi guys.. so my bicarbonate of soda has arrived and I have gradually added it to pond to raise my kh....
could anyone advise the perfect KH and PH level..
I am currently at
KH 3 DROPS
PH 7.4
is this ok?
or would you try to raise KH a bit more..
all fish are fine... no problems at all with pond. just want to find the right balance to ensure i dont have a PH crash.....
thanks
ryan

Morning Ryan, you are safe at that but I would raise it to say 5 and hold it there to keep an eye on it.
Keep monitoring it and adding bicarb as needed, you will get used to how much you need to add on a weekly basis.John

thanks john.... i kind of know how much soda it takes to raise kh by 1 level now..
but the trick is to find how long it stays at this level before i need to add more..
just gonna take time and patience i guess....
so 5 is an ok level im guessing..
thanks ryan

That's it Ryan, fine the way you are but better to raise it till as you say you get used to how much and often to add some more.
