Hello from East Sussex.
Hi all.
New to the forum. Been reading through some of the threads the last couple of weeks and am very much liking what I see.
I currently have a 2500 gallon pond that I am planning to extend to about 4500 gallons this spring. I will have lots and lots of questions along the way So if there are any peeps local to me that would allow a visit to look and talk pond building and filtration that would be great. I will bring the Jaffa cakes too.
Thanks Craig.

Hey. It is a sleeper build 10 x 10 and 4 foot deep currently no bottom drain so pump fed to an oasis multibay filter I also have an oase biotec fed by pump through 110 UV.
Pond has been built nearly 3 years but this year I have noticed a lot of crud building up on the base even though I pondvac every week.
somthis year I am planning on digging deeper adding a bottom drain ensuring a flat even base where no crud can settle.
thanks Craig.

Sounds like a nice little setup :-)
im pump fed on 4000 gallons and the trick I found was put a circulation pump in and move the water in a rough toilet motion
all my crud collects in one place now lol

I do occasionally put in an old sump pump to circulate the water and give it a good stir up but worry about too much bad stuff in the water column and am concerned that the filters cannot handle the amount of crap that circulates the pond.

pond..jpg This is it as it stands now. looks a bit dirtier now it has been in use for 3 years but I have been sanding down staining and varnishing some spare sleepers to use on the top once the new build has been completed.
