Hi Charco, a drum usually has two inlets, so bottom drain to valve to drum, skimmer to valve straight to drum in three or four ins pipe.

My drum doesn't have a drain and dont know if others have.
So I T off between the bottom drain valve and drum to a valve drain.

Hope it makes sence to you mate.
    John

@John1, by “drain” I’d take that as “waste”.
Water will find the path of least resistance so won’t flow uphill to a waterfall.
    I reckon you’ll need twopumps.
One for the mid water return and one for your waterfall.
Skimmer and bottom drain should be separate.

The Minima - Combi Unit there is the link to the unit I am getting.... and from what I’m seeing in the pictures and diagram is 1 inlet 1 outlet and 1 waste. Also is a skimmer an absolute must? I don’t have any trees or anything near pond but thought for the sake of a little bit more money may be worth it?

    Got you now mate,is that 1300 - 1600 gals ?

With only one inlet you would have to T them,or run the skimmer to a seive but you would need two pumps then.

My opinion yes a skimmer is a must, not only for leaves but it keeps all matter off the surface and you would be sorry of you dont fit one.

When buying a pump get a variable one, more control over flow.

Ok, my view would be spend the money on something like an AEM drum with 2 inlets and fit a separate bio chamber, even a home made one, then you can run the two circuits without an issue.
I’m not sure connecting skimmer and bottom drain together works particularly well but stand to be corrected. Skoosh was thinking about that but can’t recall if he did it or not.

Only my opinion but I don’t think it’s the right type of filter. It’s too limited IMO.
I’m not dissing it, it’s pretty cool but again only my opinion, it’s more suited to a quarantine tank situation rather than a full blown pond where you’d only maybe have one small bottom drain and a drain and a skimmer.
Have you considered a Draco in a used Nexus or one of their smaller Solum drums?
    Is space an issue?
Is cost a factor? (It usually is to us mere mortals lol)

There’s been a few discussions about teeing main pioe circuits together ,if I get time tomorrow I’ll have a search for you and also message Skoosh to see if he has any input.

Charco, I think it would work if the skimmer valve was turned right down but to be honest mate it wouldn't be my choice as it is more for a q/t.

Agree with Bcc,for that budget i would go for an Aem, two inlets and a UV which would work a lot better for you, make a bio as basically it is only a box i made mine.
Have a think mate we are trying to help.

Don’t give up mate, it’s all part of the fun
If you’re running a shower also then you deffo don’t want a minima as it won’t flow enough I don’t think.
