    Filtration question

I have a bottom drain with a spindrifter feeding a Filtreu eco drum with bio chamber gravity fed. I have variable speed pump everything runs fine but I get bits floating in the water. crap lays on the bottom and after an hour or so its gone down the drain but tiny bits are left floating around in the water is there any other equipment to give my clear water that can be recommended.

You may have to much air going through the bottom drain, keeping the fine debris from settling out.

Would clay not help ? If muck is on floor have you purged the bd lately? And do you have a skimmer running??

Hello mate do you have a mid return or a skimmer running? Speaking to someone the other day about something similar and he said about skimmer and mid return basically filtering all layers along side the bottom drain

It's all about the movement of water.
    Balancing it out.
I did what sim says. When first running my setup for the first time. It took me about a month to get it right playing with the air and the pond returns. My air started off like a jacuzzi. Now it's about halfway air flow. And the current of the pond returns
Works in tandem together with the skimmer. I believe my air to high was acting like a dead spot. If that makes sense.

I have been adjusting my air flow rate back a bit yes mine was like a jacuzzi for the first few months now its a little under halfway. I don't have a skimmer I was going to fit one during the build But at the time I could not work out how to connect it to my drum filter. My bottom drain goes into one of the two 4inch holes of the drum would I have been able to connect a skimmer into the other 4inch with a reducer. Charco excuse my ignorance but I do not know what a mid return is.

how is your return back to the pond from your filter. mine is from my filter to the top pond then water shute to the lower pond. I have a separate skimmer line returned to the pond with TPRs x 2, which is tangible pond returns
my pond returns are set at about 2 feet of the bottom of the pond floor. these are called mid returns TPRs. there put there to make a current to circulate the water around the pond and work in tandum with the bottom drain and skimmer.
hope this helps you understand what mid returns mean. everyone has them set at different heights in there ponds. keeps the crap moving around so that the skimmer and bottom drain catches it

on your drum you should be able to fit a skimmer into the other hole with a rubber boot reducer. my skimmer is 3 inch, but half way to my ultra sieve the pipe size goes up to 4 inch or 110mm. and joins my skimmer with 110mm
rubber boot. or 4 inch rubber boot. I am old school still in feet and inch s. hope this helps

Hi Freddyboy My pond return is from the bio chmber up to a water blade that returns to the pond. My pond is fibreglass I could cut a skimmer into it but not sure how I would retro fit the TPR.
