    Nexus Air

Hi I have recently installed a nexus 200, The k1 in the moving bed only seems to be moving in a couple of places, any ideas why ? the air pump is working fine. could there be too much K1 ?
    Thanks

I would check the circular pipe that is in the bottom of the Nexus, pound to a penny it’s blocked or blocking up with calcium. Best way is remove it completely take off the push fit connectors so you just have the pipe, you may have fun doing it, they will probably be coated in calcium, then put a 3mm drill bit in to clean the holes, if it’s still has calcium in the pipe, a smack against a wall will help break it up, also for those that can remember, the modified Cortina aerial, unraveled and straightened out and put down the pipe, not easy to find nowadays, plastic clothes hangers are just no use

Yes same as has been said, I used to use a 2mm drill bit just push it into the holes by hand and twist it around.
Easy job used to have to do it at least twice a year on mine as I live in a hars water area.

Hi, how much K1 is in there. Dead spots are common if the filter has been running a while, also in hard water area as the air ring scales up. I live in very hard water area, so ditched the ring and removed, used the air input pipe to connect a simple 6 way air manifold and connected half can air stones around the bio area. For me and a few others on here works a treat, boils nicely. If one starts to block, I can pull it out and connect a new one..otherwise as suggested above you can try and clean the original ring, but it’s a faff getting it out regularly..cheers

I have the ring and air stones running of a manifold. 6x airstones.as the nexus ring leaves dead spots. Bad design. In my opinion.

Same as above, I fitted 6x normal airstones and it bubbles so much better and is a lot quieter too.

However, if you're K1 is brand new it tends not to move very well for the first Month so it could just be that.

If the circular air diffuser starts to clog on my Evolution Aqua pro bio system, and because its not practical to remove the circular pipe, I have found my air compressor connected to the air feed pipe does the trick, with just a short burst of a higher PSI volume of air works every time for me.
