Once I've got it all fitted and working and I'm happy with everything I'll drop cuttlebrook a polite email to let them know.

Don't want to email yet just in case something isn't working. Hope to fit it tomorrow morning.

Fitted Draco tonight, have a few questions that I'll list up tomorrow. For the first hour it was cleaning every 1 minute, after 3 hours it's now down to every 5 minutes.

This is the first 2 hours worth of fines....

Good results but poor packaging for the price, your more understanding than I Am, for that sort of money I would have turned it round at the door, it's like buying a new car with stains on the seats and scratches on the body work, a piss take in my opinion how much does a decent box cost??? For a tenner it could have been shipped in a plastic tote box, a bloody poly fish box would have gave better protection and aesthetic appeal on delivery , I would definitely voice concerns to middle man and supplier to ensure against warranty issues, at least you have photo proof

Told her it was £400 and I'll be able to spend more time with her as it will save me all the hours cleaning Nexus every couple of days.

Before video of fines is in the OP of this thread.
Will do an after video tomorrow.

    Here's a before pic

Well - in reality you will be able now to spend more time trully enjoying your pond than cleaning your Nexus every other day - invite your wife to your pond with bottle of good wine anx two glasses - the price of the Draco drum will immediately will loose any relevance in your wife's mind - provided you will still deliver on your promise of new kitchen this fall ...Nexus 220 fines issuesNexus 220 fines issuesNexus 220 fines issues

    Good morning!

Straight out of bed and down the garden to check the drum this morning lol.

Now up to 9 minutes between washes, 14 minutes if I turn pump down to around 6k lph. That's more frequent than I hoped as the pond is almost clear now. Wondered if its to do with this:

I did that and it's perfect because it wouldn't fit any other way. But water level is below the waste tray (instructions say should be half way up), only 1/3 drum is submersed, but I can't lower it anymore because the electronics box on the side of the drum is resting on the Nexus and won't go lower....

    MVIMG_20190721_092241.jpg

Any ideas? Have I fitted something wrong?
I'd like to lower it by 1 screw hole to get more drum submerged but don't think I can without removing this black control box, which is their new control box that replaces the old white one, and looks bigger in pics too.

The other problem is the waste pipe that fits into bottom of Nexus. It seals at first then after a few hours starts leaking a small constant trickle out of the nexus outlet causing the macerator/sump pump to be constantly kicking in and out. I guess I could seal it into position but don't think I should have to as part of the maintenance regime involves removing it periodically.

The drum inlet pipe slotted to the Nexus inlet allows some dirty water through at the bottom and also where it goes into the side of the drum, so some dirty water is getting back through into the pond. Its a negligible amount in the scheme of things but I wondered if this is the same for everyone?

As for water clarity, no question about it - Just 12 hours in and already a massive improvement.

The drum is a LOT quieter than I expected. My worries about noise (thieves hearing) are relatively unfounded. With filter pit lid down you can only just hear the spray from 10 foot away, nothing that an insulated cover wouldn't fix. (Although my water pressure does seem a bit too low (guessing approx. 2 bar), so I suspect jet washing the mesh will need to be done every few weeks).

Regarding the comments about the state of the packaging - I agree this is an issue that needs picking up on that it should be packaged more securely and I will email about this, but I don't care that its delivered in a plain brown box with no fancy packaging and no glossy paperwork. Marketing has always been a weak point for British Engineers and Inventors but in this case all it would do is raise their costs and add £60+ to each drum.

We've all been sucked in by the fancy packaging and presentation EA use to drive up their prices (hence their large profits), yet most of us have been disappointed with their actual products! Nobody has ever complained that a Draco drum doesn't do its intended job properly. They probably take the view that its cheaper to replace the odd damaged part than it is to pay a packaging company to design a polystyrene shell that fits snugly around their products for shipping.

As long as your happy mate, I wasn't saying it had to be fancy bespoke packaging but even the unit wrapped in bubble wrap in a sturdy box wouldn't break the bank in my opinion , I get exactly what you mean I'm not doubting the units performance in the slightest I just would be disgusted paying that sort of money and getting such shoddy packaging it would give me no confidence in after care, but that's just me, if you sent the unit back to them and they received it in the state you did I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be so understanding , but hey ho enjoy your clear water bud

Hi RS I have the 300 type Draco and box on back so no problem to lower..perhaps someone can advise wh has the 200..
With the waste pipe do have some rubber safe Vaseline, coat the bung and wiggle it in..I also put bung on very end of pipe before pushing into waste hole, so the pipe pushed it in fully..?
    Cheers

As regards the electric box the water level in the pond is too low and as said should be 1/2 way up the waste, can the water level be raised?

If not take the electric box off and put somewhere else to lower the Draco, or maybe mount it higher up.

As said, water level in the nexus is too low, water should be up near the underside of the inner rim, I found that running water level like that I could pull somewhere in the region of 15klph through with a cleaning cycle of about 25mjns usually!

    Hi John / blue

Water level in pond isn't too low, with normal Nexus Easy fitted the water level comes to within 1/2 inch of the top of the Nexus. The drum is simply sitting slightly too high. Although the running water level on the drum side is lower than it was with the Easy fitted.

    Hi Scamp,

Tried vaseline on the bottom of the waste pipe (it was already coated when delivered so I added more as it wore off during fiddling). Spent 3.5 hours trying to get it to seal. The angle of the pipe makes it worse as in no position of the drum or the pipe does it perfectly line up with the waste tray outlet so needs to be persuaded to one side slightly. I then resorted to CT1, sealed it, then once the Nexus was full it started leaking again.

Drained, removed drum, re-sealed, refilled Nexus numerous times but still leaking.

Then put everything back together, filled Nexus up and kept applying CT1 under water until the leak stopped. I've used 3/4 of a tube on it and it looks a right mess. Finally it had stopped leaking.

    Or had it?

NO..... A chunk of CT1 had somehow got inside the pipe and totally blocked the Nexus drain tap. What a nightmare.

Everything apart again, another hour and a gallon of white spirit to clean everything up and back to square one.

Finally stumbled across the solution, it is the simplest solution ever and in my opinion this is how the kit should be supplied....

A 1.5" rubber boot fits snugly inside the Nexus drain hole, the Draco drain pipe fits firmly into the rubber boot (no jubilee clip required). Slotted everything together and thought no chance it can be this easy..... Sure was, perfect seal.

This whole palava has taken 5 hours solid!

Bit of fiddling and the water level is now just below half way up the waste tray and about 50% of the drum is under water.

To be honest the lower water level may have been partially caused by constant flow of dirt. No sooner had the drum done a cleaning cycle it would start getting blocked again almost immediately.

Its been off most of today whilst I tried to seal that waste pipe, been on for the last 3 hours and now down to 10 mins between cleans. Still a fair few fines yet to be dealt with.
