Best drum Combi filter?
I’m currently in the process of looking at a drum Combi system to replace my current filter setup which is bottom drain and skimmer to Ultrasieve then one outlet to a Econobead 60 and return and a second outlet from sieve to Ultrabead 60 and return to pond..
The pond is 3600 gallons and ideally I’m after a Combi system that is sufficient for this size pond. I have 11 koi all over 30cm. I’m hoping to add 2 or 3 more koi in the future.
Budget is 3.5k give or take!!
I don’t really have room for a drum and separate bio chamber and want to make it as easy to use, if that’s the right word , as possible so my daughter can use the system when I’m away for a few months at a time!
Ideas please.

It's currently 21,000L and yes, it's my only form of filtration. 26 Koi in at present, one touching 80cm and another at 76cm. The rest are between 40cm 50cm. Their fed 6 times a day.

Thanks for the information, that puts my mind at rest, so your pond is 1000 gallons more with twice as many fish and the 35 easily copes with that. How much K1 or whatever are you running on the bio side? You don’t have a shower running aswell?
Think I need to get one ordered!! Where did you get yours from?

The issue I have is that I don’t want to have a shower as I find them a bit of an eyesore, so I need a Combi with enough bio on its own.

I honestly don't think a lot of the combis have enough bio media to do the job on their own. Obviously all systems are different though.
I got some advice from Mike Snaden of Yume Koi when I was choosing my filters, and despite the fact he sells the Profi Combis he didn't really recommend one because he felt the drum capacity and and bio capacity were a mismatch.
However a large combi such as mine (the Aqua one from Coastal) is a very large filter, you would not be saving much space compared to getting a separate drum and custom made K1 chamber to sit next to it. They are simpler to install though and you don't need to worry about lining up any connecting pipework which can be a total pita.2016 new 6000 gallon pond

“and you don't need to worry about lining up any connecting pipework which can be a total pita”
100% this
The draw down through a bio chamber from a decent pump needs consideration also. I was “losing” about 30mm which doesn’t sound a lot bit was the difference between my K1 turning over nicely and not. Add to that the decrease in level as the drum got dirty it all added up.
Having a change around now to combat this issue but it was definitely something I hadn’t even considered to be honest.

Quick question in relation to drums and separate bio chamber. If using a drum from bd and skimmer gravity fed then I assume the water in the drum has to be at pond level? If this is the case and then after the drum you have a separate bio chamber gravity fed from the drum then I assume the chamber has to be lower than the drum? If so how do you control the water level in the chamber and if a pump should fail that’s pumps the water out what’s to stop it overflowing and emptying your pond?

If your level in your chamber rises over the drum clean side maximum the water will flow down your waste chute.
It won’t empty the pond.
When setting level of chamber allow for the water dropping in the drum dirty side and the pump draw down.
I reckon that’s about 70mm on my setup.
When my pump is on full chat (20k) it pulls about 20mm from chamber.
Hope that makes sense with the picture.
If not, message me and I’ll FaceTime you with video and show you
