Air pump above water level
Hi all I am working on the filter pit area which is beside the pond and building a box frame with deck claddings and with the Eazypod height the box is going to be about 6cm taller from top of the pond wall which will look ok but just realised I haven't taken into account that the air pump needs to be situated above the Eazypod water level and if so the height of the box section with be about 25cm protruding from top of pond in which case will look abit odd in proportion to the pond. Is ot not possible to have the air pump on the floor and fit some type of valve to stop water coming back i to air pump? I hope I have explained it correctly and advice appreciated. Thanks

Yeah I got a one-way valve with one of my airpumps so I would assume it's possible

Yeah, it looks like the one I got. Just make sure it's the right size for your airline. Keep in mind that it might restrict the airflow slightly it I don't really know how much

Thanks again, will check the size of airline first before ordering.

Check valves are not required ... Just make sure the air line has a loop that is a few inches above water level (hang it over a hook or something like that) and you can put your pump wherever you want.
Water doesn't rush back up the air pipe when you turn the air off so as long as the loop is securely fixed above water level there will be no problems (a lot of times pressure is trapped in the line so water doesn't come into it at all) ... I've been doing this for years in many different situations and no problems ...

Ok decided to place the air pump on shelving just slightly above the Eazypod water level. I think I just have enough room without it catching the box lid when closed. Will have to make sure the dimensions are spot on when I construct the frame and box. Thank you all for your replies.

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
