    4 large vortex Filtration system.

Hi/ I know it's old school, but I've been offered the chance to buy a large 4 vortex Filtration system, each measuring 48x30 inch. First vortex a settlement vortex and the last 3 filled with jap matting. Any thoughts Thank you

Those are good sized vortex, is that 48 ins high?

I have allways liked the vortex and have one on my grow on and they do stop a lot of poo as long as you have the flow right and not too fast.
I have never used jap mat so cant comment there but you want something easy to clean.
So are they a good price?
    John

I had jap matting before with air and it was ok, the challenge is getting the pre filtering right I think so you don’t have to haul it out every weekend to clean it, that’s what got me. I gradually converted each bay into k1

when i first started with my first pond 1500g i got offered 4 large square top vortex from a guy shutting down his 15000g pond for free, yes i read it wrong and no pictures to go off but he saud we'd need a large van, turned up and justsqueezed them into a luton box van, they were 4ft round and 5ft high lol,got them home and stuck on ebay and sold to a guy in liverpool for £600,i bought a small kk5000V with the cash,oh and our lass spent the rest on something that she said she needed, clothes i think hahaha,if you have a slow flow going in then a vortex is good,if fast then not as the muck needs time to drop out of the flow as it whirls around,,,,,andi

Thank you for all the replys. How would the system fair against the jbs plastic moving bed?

Probably just as good. After all, itís just a rectangular container. Thereís nothing magic about a bio chamber

Great Price! i offered £270 for them but he's holding out for £350

He’ll struggle to sell them I’d suspect, could get a second hand nexus for that with media, just a thought?

Thing with EBay especially stuff that needs collecting is prices are poor for the seller. I struggled to sell my Hydra units and basically got back about what I’d paid but that was because the wouldn’t easily fit in a car.

There are always units coming up on EBay so if you don’t get these you’ll get others

Think your spot on! You could add another hundred pound on top off that for the hire of a van e.t.c
