£600 filtration
Hi guys just after any advice available before I spend some money. Have decided my 2100 litre concrete lined pond with oase 10000 pump and skimmer and oase 15000 filtoclear is going to have to get bigger :-) thinking it will be about 8000 litres when done. In Prep I am looking to upgrade filters pumps etc so cost is spread out. I have been looking at easypod complete but before I take a plunge has anyone got any thoughts or advice about best upgrade filter thanks in advance :-) we have 12 6 in koi two about a foot long a sturgeon and about ten other shabunkins gold fish etc advised pond is prob overstocked so hoping over filtration will help til pond is done :-)

I’d be all over EBay and for same here, second hand nexus 300/310/320 would be my first option, can add Draco drum or something later if cash allows in the future?

Thanks guys I have been watching on eBay, slight issue with moving one as I don’t think they will fit in car! I was suspecting that going for the easypod was gonna to be too small a filter but thought could add another later? Then started looking at drum filters on eBay and my budget went out of the window...lol if you were adding nexus filter would you dump the oase or run then both in line thanks :-)

To give you an idea Paul I hired a Vivaro van from Enterprise (£30 for the day) and it just fitted in that , height wasn't the problem it's the width .

I’d ditch the Oase.
you could use a pallet company, I use Shipley and the line to get stuff, surprisingly cheap if you’re not in a hurry?

2nd hand gravity fed sieve, then a shower. Should be do-able for £600 easy, and will be a much better filter than a nexus IMO.
My puddle is about 8000 litres, and and eazy pod wouldn't even START to filter it!! I've 200 litres of shower media, and it does a great job

i used to run my 4000G pond with an old nexus 200 going back over a small bakki shower, worked great,so an 8000L pond it will do easily, and you can pick a used 200 up for about £350 then get a evolve shower for £250 and fill with sakura ceramic media from kitsu koi at £69 for 10k so 30kg,job done for £810,,,,andi

As a cheaper option maybe - why not keep the Eazy Pod and buy a second hand bio chamber to go after it then as the K1 in the Eazy Pod must be matured already you could stick that in the bio chamber and add some more K1 and maybe replace your 10K LPH pump for a variable speed 20K LPH pump, run it slowly at first to give the new K1 a better chance to mature then turn the speed back up a bit as required later on maybe? That way your Eazy Pod is acting as a pre filter for the bio chamber so it's lack of bio capacity is no longer an issue. There were some good deals on 20K LPH pumps recently just not sure they are still doing them but worth a look? You could even make your own bio chamber if you wanted to save a bit more money as they are basically just a container that holds media with an inlet and an out let at the end of the day. If you have a look at some of the designs people on here have made it may give you some ideas

There are about 4.55 litres to a gallon Johnathan
At the end of the day you can only fit what you can fit depending on space and budget at the time of installation.

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
