Showers
Thinking of adding a shower this summer straight from my drum. In a ideal world I would have the momotaro shower pretty pricey thou. Been looking at JBR,evolve and sakura showers and they look all the same apart from the price. Anybody had any problems with them or does one better than another etc. Will probably bite the bullet and have bhm in it.
Thoughts ?

I have used JBR Plastics for my moving bed filter and they are spot on, I believe they manufacture showers for one the bigger companies so if you purchase from them directly you are saving yourself some money and at £340 + delivery they are an absolute bargain.
It just comes down to your media where cost can have implications but they are a great investment. Just add a variable pump on your shower if you are not returning to pond from your mechanical filtration.8101E575-3E27-45CB-AC77-723DEBE861C0.jpg

Yes jbr do look good value for money an presumably the flow rates/media have a bigger influence than who makes them.
cheers

I have pumice in mine as it cost £60+ per 25kg of media needed for the plastic showers, there maybe some debate as to whether plastic ones are trickle towers and stainless steel ones are Bakki showers but that’s for the critics to debate.

Trickle - slow flow
Shower - fast flow
Bakki - now generic term like “hoover”
Plastic/Stainless - doesn’t matter, it’s just a container for your media.
Some media is more porous than others.
Some media will erode
Some Chinese junk is full of crap
Most people will swear by what they use unless they’ve had a bad experience with one of the above failings.
Try and get a sample of the product/s you wish to use in your shower to compare.
There was a thread on here a while back about pumice where it was suggested it was best used submerged and with no air. That’s worth a little read.
There’s a lot of choice that’s for sure.
Pocket size plays a big part ultimately, not everyone is fortunate enough to afford BHM but there are some reasonable alternatives I’m sure.

I've got a genuine momotaro single four tier with proper stainless lid + 80kg BHM + winter fabric cover for sale soon. I'm in the middle of a tidying up things. There's some other stuff like blue eco 320 and EA 110 UV and other bits.

Let me have dig around Davet. The shower and media have been dry stored in my garage for the last 6 months since I closed down my pond. I'll try and get some more pictures and a price for you over the next day or 2.

Hi Jay, I am good thanks. I actually have two sets of bakki showers available. I bought a second shower which was only 3 trays that I have never used with the intention of buying another tray to make another 4 tier single.
My plan is to get everything out and pictured and priced so I can do it in one go and people can see what it is they are buying. You can have second refusal on both showers once I've got things sorted. Cheers Adam

Hello Andikoi I bought mine from Absolute koi a few years ago. It's done a good job at keeping the heat loss down and lets the gases vent off to. Mines stood up well to being outside in all weathers apart from a bit of sun bleaching making it more of a gray colour. If I remember correct it was in the £125 range roughly.
