Aerated bottom drain
Should I leave my aerated bottom drain running over winter or should I switch it off until the spring when temperatures start to rise currently pond is unheated hoping to install some type of heating soon.

Is your pond covered? If it is you may never get below 5 degrees. Provided the pond temperature is above 4deg then no harm running an aerated BD. Below that then turn it off and if you can reduce the flow through your filters. I used to turn off my bottom drain and only take water from the skimmer when temperatures were very low but then I'm not fully covered.
6000g in ground koi pond
+3000g lily/Anoxic pond attached
29 koi (40 to 65cm)
Bottom drain, Mid water & Skimmer to Drum
JBR boichamber->Blue eco 500 pump ->below surface return.
Blue Eco 240 -> Large MB -> Waterfall -> Planted Anoxic pond (25 baskets)
