would 2 pumps work
Hi
Just getting back into keeping a pond and have had an above ground pond of the following dimensions with approx. 5 gold fish for the last 12 weeks
The pond is fibreglass build and is 8ft x 4ft x 4ft and is approx. 2800 ltrs running a Hozelock aquaforce 4000 pump in the pond to a Hozelock Bioforce 6000 filter connected by flexi hose on hosetails running through the rear wall of the tank
I note now having done regular water tests that the pond is close to maturity and ready to add a few koi, what I also notice is that where the pump is situated appears to leave "Water dead spots" and possibly not circulating all the water in the tank
To increase the circulation would it be possible to move the hozelock 4000 pump to one end of the pond, installing a second Hozelock 4000 pump at the other end splicing the hose in the tank with a T connection so that they both feed the same filter with approx. the same flow rate
This would encourage more circulation in the tank but would the filter be able to handle the increased flow
This is my 1st post hope someone can assist

Hello and welcome.
Im sorry to say but your pond wont be deep enough for koi.
Koi can grow big and your pond should be at least 4' deep but can get away with slightly shallower.
Koi like to swim up to their food but they wouldn't be able to do that in your pond
It takes a long time for a pond to mature and I would wait until the weather gets warmer before adding new fish to your pond5000 Gallon Fibreglassed Pond With 54" x 27" Infinity Window

whyme where are you based? - in the UK 1 ft of depth is quite liable to freeze solid in a cold winter so not suitable for fish of any type.
6000g in ground koi pond
+3000g lily/Anoxic pond attached
29 koi (40 to 65cm)
Bottom drain, Mid water & Skimmer to Drum
JBR boichamber->Blue eco 500 pump ->below surface return.
Blue Eco 240 -> Large MB -> Waterfall -> Planted Anoxic pond (25 baskets)

Hi, welcome along.
Maybe some detail is not correct here.
Those dimensions add up to around 860 lt, if it's a rectangle, a depth of 1m would add up to your end result??
Reference to pond then tank??
1000 gallons is recommended as a starting size,
But in reality many koi are put into much less.

wrong dimensions
Hi
Thanks for ur replies, after reading my post I realise that the dimensions of the pond were stated wrong
The pond is an above ground, double insulated, cladded fibreglass pond with a depth of 4FEET
I am hoping to keep a few koi but not to the detriment to their health
In light of this amended post will the set up I have work and could I feed the 2 pumps into the one pressure filter as my original request
regards

Now your pond is a better depth. You should be able to keep a few koi in there
Dont go crazy though as koi will grow.
Next bit of advice is to upgrade your pressure filter.
Theses filters are ok for goldfish but just handle the waste that koi produce.
maybe have a look at an Easypod5000 Gallon Fibreglassed Pond With 54" x 27" Infinity Window

welcome, your pond sounds like one of the denby or ez ponds,as for pumps, oase used to do a pump with a satellite feature, dont know if they still do but this works by having a length of pipe with a pump basket/outer on the end which connects to your pump basket in pond,or you could just drop a few airstones in the dead spots, these will casue any debris on bottom to be pulled up into pond and then settle elsewhere or be pulled into your pump,i also would look into a pod and maybe a retro bottom drain, andi
