Thread: Drum filter

    Drum filter

Thinking of upgrading my sieve to a drum but unsure which option to go for at the moment. I have Evo 220 with matching sieve thinking AEM or adding a Draco to 220 what do people think? I have a skimmer in the wall of the pond so maybe the AEM would be the better option?

I was in the same situation a year ago, sold my nexus 300 kept the k1 made a bio for it,bought a draco solum 25 was going for an aem but got the draco for the same price.

So if it was me i would go for the aem and sell the 220 and keep the k1 for a bio,at least you can re-coup some pennies.

HI, I put in a easy drum last year and keep my 210 nexus with a bypass fitted. drums are good but if they go wrong and you need parts how do you keep your water filtered .all that muck going in your bio.

Sammy you make an excellent point maybe the AEM with a bypass just in case may be the best option. This would mean if the worst happens nothing to bad just bypass and get parts ordered and fixed ASAP.

i have a nexus 320 with draco inside. does a good job.also i kept the easy in case it breaks down. all i would do is take drum out and put the central piece back inside. untill i fixed the draco. or bought a new one.
done it. it tokk me two hours to go back to a nexus filter. and one hour to put the draco back inside.

most new drums have a bypass in them for this reason , mine doesnt . how big is your pond ?

go for something like a qk drum , a robust stand alone drum , easy to get parts if needed and get as

much flow as you can afford

HI, we all do what is best for us and the koi, as i do work long days some weeks . i put the bypass in so if the drum went wrong my wife can turn things on and off .just two ball valves to turn and the nexus is working off the BD and the drum stops. all my bio is clean no muck .This lets me work on the drum or take it out to repair .
