I was thinking of the large cylinder type of filter system these seem to have a high flow rate

if you want a high flow rate then go for the 20" 3 pod ones, but be careful with too much flow could mean that chlorine gets through,or you could top with a 3 pod and use sodium thiosulphate crystals to get rid of chlorine like most of us do now, andi

That’s a good idea just use the 3 pod for top ups but I’ve never heard of
thiosulphate crystals. I will have to do some reading

Before buying a dechlorinator its vety imoortant to decide how you want to use it as this dictates the best product fr you, I would strongly recommend NOT getting a 3 pod 10” or an EA cannister type. Both can only cope with pitiful flow rates making them unsuitable for even a very slow trickle in on a reasonable size koi pond.
Are you planning to do large water changes over a short time, or a constant trickle? (May be both if you have filters that need dumping to clean them).
Work out what kind of flow rate you would like to be able to refill the pond at when running at the maximum. Next when you read manufacturer claims for the flow rtaes of their units- be very sceptical. Many of us have found units that pass lots of chlorine at the advertised flows. I think this is partly because many of these units are sold for filters mains water for drinking, and so achieveing a near zero chlorine level is not that important as people cannot taste it at levels that would still harm your koi and filters.
For the fastest flows the large blue cyclinders with 5 micron particle filter in front take a lot of beating. It makes sense that several kgs of activated charcoal is going to be vastly superior to a tiny little chacoal cartridge in terms of both flow and capacity tk remove stuff.
If you wanted to get away with a smaller unit and just use it for trickling in (and use ST for larger faster water changes) then you could get away with the 3 pod 20” or one of the ‘jumbo’ units. Its vital to buy some DPD4 tablets and regularly check the outflow though. The cartridges may well not last as long as you think.2016 new 6000 gallon pond

Thank you to Andi and Feline for your input my plan is having a top up system and a another method for a large water change on a 3000 gallon pond.
i don’t mind using the home made decholinator method but would still need a top up method.

my idea is the same as what i did on my old pond,if you had a 20" 3 pod then you can get the flow through for large top ups,i had a nexus so lost quite a few gallons a few times a week,so topped up faster but i used the sodium thiosulphate to rid pond of chlorine, and 3 pod just for heavy metals and othe tap water contaminents, andi
