Personally, I’d go for something a little bigger, but it depends on your stocking levels too.

Blimey...there's a question which poses more questions.
How deep are your pockets?
Do you want to be access parts easily in the future if something breaks?
How many inputs/outputs are you looking for?
How fast are you wanting to turn your pond over?
In no particular order
Aqua Source
Draco
Profidrum
Aqua Drum
Queni Koi
Aqua Forte
Oase
AEM
Burtons Aquatics
Filtreau
There's probably a few more "niche" ones but I'd hazard a guess that these are the most popular makes

Thanks for reply ...........it will be funded by the other half's pockets (result ! ) ............for the last 16 yrs i have been running 3 filters totalling 2500 gph it needs 2 inputs from 2 b/drains .... are parts so important ,or do they breakdown a lot

no skimmer?
lets say you want the facility to turn pond over once an hour minimum then you'd be looking at a drum within the 22-25 range. If you want to add some "in hand capacity" then you're the next step up to the 35 range I'd guess and the associated additional cost but if the other half is paying then I'd be doing my best to convince them that the extra is well worth having and your happiness (and that of the fish obviously) is worth more than mere money
No idea how reliable the cheaper drums are, they haven't really been available as long as some of the other models. I'm sure that if they were proper rubbish there'd be plenty of people on here moaning cause people tend to join forums when they need to vent rather than sing a products praises.
Aqua Source/Profi/Aqua Drum/Oase seem to be a bit more "premium" but you'll read very few (if any) moans about Draco for example.
I can probably count on one hand the number of rants on here about drums in general, which considering how many of them there are out there is pretty good indication of how good most of them are. From what I know, the pressure pumps on some are a weak point, the water sensors on others can be a bit "iffy".

I had the 35 range in mind...my skimmer feeds an 8ft bay filter

what drum
Talking of ‘one hand’ and Drums, don’t get your hand ‘caught’ in a turning drum like I did last night trying to clean my waste chute, lesson learnt.
Look at the probes first BEFORE putting your hand anywhere near the Drum (I had to pull my fingers out of the gap between the screen and the chute - I can safely say I thought I’d lost my fingers!!)
Nothing really damaged apart from my pride.

If it helps, I have a 5500gallon pond with just over 20 koi and have spent years fiddling about with various filters until last year when I fitted an AEM drum followed by a JBR fluidised bed which has 200 litres of K1 in it. The drum runs off the mains water supply (no high pressure pump) and is fed by 2 bottom drains. The change in my koi keeping experience has changed dramatically as I no longer have to climb in and out of the filter bay doing cleaning and maintenance.
Not sure how long this will last as I have no idea on the reliability of the drum but so far so good.
The whole system cost about £1500 and in my opinion is worth every penny.
Obviously I already had some of my equipment such as the main pump which is 18000 litre.

depending how heavily you stock, I reckon you will eventually need some good size chamber for 5500 gallons, thats same size as my pond, i have a 1,200 litre bio chamber that will hold 6-700 litres of media, its only currently got 330 litres in it, but it gives me loads of room for growth as the fish grow, then I have a large shower on the return, that houses 4 big bags of grog.
Depends how many fish you want really tbh, thing is you might start off with 20 small to medium fish but 2-3 years later they are big fish, then you might have to either thin them out or increase your bio, so its best to prepare for the future imo if you can.
My aim is to have about 10-12 really big fish......one day
