Evo Aqua uv not lighting up
Hello just installed a new bulb into my 55 w uv and the bulb is not lighting up
I have checked power and I have power all the way to the bulb Connections
I was going to go and get another bulb just in case but is there anything I can check beforehand

I had the same issue recently due to the fiddly connectors not clicking into place properly, one end really needed a push before it gave that satisfying click?

I can't remember, it was a few months ago now since I had to do it but I don't think it matters... I checked the manual too and see no reference to that http://www.evolutionaqua.com/acatalo...al-UK-ONLY.pdf.

Sounds similar to me, I've got one of those electrical tester pens so I knew each cap was getting power but as soon as I slid the bulb in and screwed the end cap on it kept coming loose... the only advice I have is to make sure that the bulb is sticking out the same amount each end i.e. not one sided otherwise it makes it more difficult for the opposite connection to fit properly and to press harder than it feels OK to do!

Same here have tested with my pen and it’s getting power at both ends
I have connected the bulb but not put the black covers on and I cannot see the bulb lighting up

Not sure I can help you more, wish I could but I just remember it being fiddly to align and press down on the pins so that there was a connection. If you've got multiple bulbs I see no issue pushing hard! Can you connect one end and then test the other end of the bulbs pins to see if power is getting through i.e. it is connected properly rather than a bulb fault?

Just spoken to evo aqua and they have said it sounds like the uv is dead and only option is to buy a new one

Have you checked that the connections are clear from rust and grim so your getting a good connection? Do you have a normal tester that beeps on complete circuits? This way you can check the lamp is still good.

I don’t think that this would work as the tubes have no direct connection to each end

Also I have tested the connector ends with a multimeter and I am getting a connection to the ballast

Sorry can you explain what you mean about Test at each end ?
If I Test the brown wire from the ballast to the bulb connection I get a complete circuit and the same with the blue wire
This tests ok both ends from the ballast to the lamp connection

Ok stick the ends of your multi meter into where the lamp goes (make sure the power is off!) then put your tester into continuity test and see if it beeps

I have tried that but I am not getting a circuit
It gets as far as the ballast

Right because the circuit is to the other end so keep one at one end and try each of the other end one will be the circuit

Also if you can get to the ballast take a picture strip it out and either electrical wholesale or google the part and change it it’s all it can be

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
