Water changes; have you got a test kit to check how high the Ammonia is - what about Nitrite; how new is the pond and accompanying filter? By that I mean how long has the Nexus been running the pond with fish in.
No point changing water unless it is dechlorinated. Are you heated also, or what temp is the pond at?
Get at least a 50LPM air pump, you may want bigger and somewhat dependent on how much K1 is in the Nexus - I ran an EA 95 air pump on 150+ litres in a 220, you can get more K1 in a 300 series (there’s a guidance table on the EA website).

Agree with everything rob has said
also how much k1 do you have?
Was all the k1 new when you started the filter?
I was running a 95lpm with 205 litres of k1 in a nexus 320 but now I have just dumped an extra 50 litres of k1 and 10 litres of k3 and 25 litres of oase hel x so now I have upgraded my air pump to a 130 lpm to get a nice so boil not a jacuzzi :-)
in the past I used the ea blue gel stuff which helped bring ammonia down but you have to stop feeding and water changes as rob said

EA Pure Pond Bombs DO significantly reduce ammonia in 24 Hours. I have no connection with EA. I just know they do work.
Also zeolite works but you need to know what you are doing with it.
Like the others have said....Cease feeding, change water (dechlorinated is essential).
You are certain it is ammonia though right? Have you tested?

Also any advice on flashing koi this time of year

You need to rule out your water parameters first; it could well be the Ammonia you mentioned; that and Nitrite at increasingly dangerous levels will be annoying your fish, potentially causing the flashing.
Both readings should drop, probably slowly (if your not heated) especially at this time of year and you might see Nitrite spike. Adding bacteria start gel/balls as said previously could help.
Then your into scraping the fish that are flashing, for parasites, if you have ruled out your water. Don’t jump the steps until your filter shows you signs of life, via your readings, and you start to see things levelling out and some sort of balance appearing.
You won’t be taking readings day after day forever, but you do need to rule things out in logical steps.
I’ll say again, how long has the Nexus been running for?

The nexus has been running for about 2 weeks

Stick with it, early days for the filter (media) so keep an eye on readings and take relevant measures if things deteriorate (as above).

Hi im another newbie and recently changed my filter to a nexus 300, i have a 80l/min air pump and airstones in my outer chamber.
i have been having troubles with high Nitrite, Nitrate readings, some great help and advice from the people on this forum. I have also been doing regular water changes little and often.
I have also been using the EA pure pond and the EA pure + to improve my water quality.
unfortunately given the low temperature (my pond is at approx 5degC) i think its going to be a slow recovery to get the levels down. I'm doing water changes every second day and testing on the day in between.
sorry should have added with regard to flashing im sorry that I cant help or offer any advice.

Still at around 17C, know what you mean about getting the covers off though :D it will be really...
