I just wanted to post up and say I have just swapped over to Orchard Fisheries sturgeon food and its great, I've noticed a growth spurt in my fish and also they are much more active I am seeing them up higher in the water more often swimming around very happily.

only down side is the koi love it as well adverse effect koi are growth spurting as well so not all bad

Hi m8 im not gonna make out im an expert but my experience is as follows. I had heard a lot of rumours about ebay sturgeon food being basicaly trout pellets which arent good. I was feeding mine a sturgeon mix from my local koi shop but it was only 42% protein and it contained fish oils didnt say what the protien was so i assume it was vegetable protien which with fish oil is ok but isnt the best and to be honest like yours i didnt see them eat much and they werent very active The orchard fisheries food is 45% protein and is made of fish protein so its given the sturgeon exactly what they need they have perked right up straight away theee more active eating more and noticably growing. I would and have def reckomened it.

thanks for your input and reading on other forums every one says orchard fisheries is the best ,the problem is every dealer you see on ebay makes out that there stuff is the right one . my sturgeon are very active but only two seem to be eating ,i will give orchard fisheries food a try ,by the way the albinos look very striking in the pond .

Ive got a pair of besta sturgeon they are a hybrid sterlet / beluga

something I did with mine when I first put them in the pond was put bloodworm in the pond it gave them some fresh live food to look for and didn't last too long.

give the orchard stuff a try, im going to be ordering my koi food from there and giving that a try once things warm up

hi i will see if i need any other food for the koi and order all at once its £6pounds delivery so the more i out on the order its still the same postage . i do put earth worms in and they eat them , the problem i will get is when i need to put them in the main pond as i get blanket weed , at the moment there in a quarantine tank 9ft x3x3 with a bead filter .my pond is 18x12x4. i am hoping when they get larger that they will be able to cope with some blanket weed ,i do take as much weed out as i can by hand .

If youve got blanketweed my friend a sure bet to get rid of it is cloverleaf blanket answer. I used to have realy bad blanketweek i now treat my pond with CBA once a year and it never comes back and its sturgeon safe. The stuff is amazing but dont follow the instructions on the bottle get the desired amount mix it in a warering can and pour it all around the edges of the pond wall. It makes the pond cloudy but dont be tempted to water change it it will clear but keep it in the pond for 10days and the blanketweed will be totaly gone

If you're ordering your sturgeon food from OF then you could easily try their pink crystals for blanketweed- works extremely well and is safer than CBA (blanketweed answer). It's the only blanketweed treatment I would use in my pond.
I don't own any sturgeon but I buy my koi some sturgeon food to mix with the koi food for some extra protein in the warmest months- helps the koi grow like stink

I agree. I use both OF sturgeon food and the pink crystals work really well. All my koi and sturgeon are thriving
