I also had a Nexus for years, dealt with ammonia and nitrites well after initial seeding period but always had 80 ppm+ nitrate readings, fines were noticeable too.

I think pp is one of the best treatments there is, have used it over 6 years in my pond if ever I have a parasite or water quality issue.
Used correctly I does my koi no harm only good.... -

I find treating with pp at the correct dose keeps my pond healthy and cures an odd parasite issue I have. -
