    RO questions need answers please

Hi guys a last a post . I have been using RO since 07-08. few years back I bought a 1200GPD from Allen at Pure Water. He has now seemed to have vanished.

Does anyone know where I can get replacement FS TFC-3013-400 Membranes from?

I also noticed some of you are using 4040 membranes does anyone use either 4040 or 4021 membranes as a single unit without a pump?
I have a variable water pressure from 55-70PSI, will they work @ that pressure?

(I don't like the pumps I had one burn out.) Help please.

    thanks John

    John

Ive seen a couple of threads on forums and FB about Guys having problems getting these and havent seen that anyone has come up with a UK or even European stockist..Saw a post some time back on FB about someone that was asking if there was interest to import a box of 10 from the States, from what I can recall there wasn’t any interest and I cant remember who asked the question..

There seem to be a couple of potential sources importing via China at around $60 ..

But hopefully someone may know better and you will get a result.

With your pressure id think a 4040 should give you 1.5- 2L a minute unpumped.

Have a look at the Vyair site when doing the costings.

4040 membranes available in the UK here:
HF4-4040 Commercial extra-low pressure membrane - Osmotics Water Filtration
I have no idea of the quality or how the price compares but I bought a pump from them and was very impressed with the quality and the customer service.

Just noticed they do both HF4 and HF5 4040's as well as others:
Reverse Osmosis Consumables - Membranes - Osmotics Water Filtration
No idea what the difference is, I only have a 450GPD unit.

Ive tried the HF5 and whilst it initially delivers better results at low pressure I didn't find it as robust to the abuse it gets as the HF4, so back to back I think the HF4 is maybe a better bet (and they are cheaper )

It does have a significant impact so worth doing, indeed am thinking of rejigging things pipework wise to built facility for the process into things so it is simply a case of opening a couple of taps..

Quick tip would be to stick a big mains booster on the system if you have one (or pinch the one off the drum) and leave that flushing through to waste for maybe as much as an hour... You may find that this helps increase the performance..

I am presuming your flush is through a 1/2" solenoid and not a tiddly one?

Will have to look into the chemicals, read the pdf from axeon but it talks about heating the chemicals etc and sounded a bit long-winded.

if i swap back to HF4, which definately outlasts hf5 then the other way to think about it is at £200 a membrane its only £17 a month and just replace them once a year in june ready for the 4 months of heavy feeding

    yes everything is in 1/2"

Alan (or maybe the company) has moved to the southwest. Here is the link Water Filter Systems, Pure Water Products but I didn't see any 400 membranes, worth an ask though.

Not too difficult to get the stuff to 26C, I just used a small aquarium heater in the tank...

    Some more reading

Reverse Osmosis & Ultrafiltration Membrane Cleaner

I will decant a litre of each and throw them in the car for the next time we meet..

Hi all, don't use one for the pond but use one for the reef set up and get mine from RO Man, have a look on his site, might help, might not lol.
