Ozone anyone?
What are your thoughts about using Ozone along with a skimmers to give your water a real boost, Anyone using it as a hobbyist?

I have used it in the past but the one I had lasted one mouth past its warranty before it exploded. and I do mean with a bang and flash of light. the hardest thing is keeping it set so it keeps the water at 400mv so it does not kill your fish. it does make your water gin clear mind. the other problem is making sure no ozone gets into the pond and mixing it well with the pond water. the best way is to use a protein skimmer and have at least 3m of pipe work before the return to the pond to let the ozone disperse in the water before it enters the pond.
so yes it is good to use it but it is also hard to set it up right and keep it running at the right settings to do what you want it to do without killing off your fish.

Thanks for the feedback, I was interested at the DIY aspect of this, but it looks quite complex?

it is not to bad as long as you get an all in one set up . so that is a ozone generator. ozone reactor. and the right controller. but then your talk upwards of £2 grand.

Thanks Vince was aware of costs, but mybackground is R&D so thought it might be possible to build a compatible type of unit, as I said before it looks complicated, & possibly dangerous?

Hi Jon
Malcolm Greens website at Koi Water Garden Ltd has some useful, and detailed info as well as all the gear.(Top quality Japanese Koi Carp at sensible prices) my waters great with it been running for 3 months, no issues so far Koi seem happy. Using low dose only. It's a marmite issue with koi users though!

If you want to hyper oxidize the pond water, chlorine is much cheaper and easier to use. Of course you have to dechlorinate the water on the way back to the pond.....the same as getting the O3 out of the water before it gets back to the pond.
