i recently purchased the oase pondo start, although not as good as the oase pondvac 4 as it has to stop to empyty its tank every 30 seconds it is a lot cheaper.

but i was very impressed with the oase pond start, got a lot of crap off the bottom, very useful if you do not have a bottom drain fitted

    pondovac 4

    Hi,
I recently purchased the Oase Pondovac 4. I have never used a pond vac before so was not too sure what to expect and you are right, it is expensive.
However I found it brilliant. There is no need to stop every 30 seconds, although when it does suck up something big it will let you know that it is not happy! Once I got over the worry of how to use it and (I am glad to say) I had read the manual, I found the whole process great. It was a little heavy on my back with all the leaning into the pond (it has quite a suck) but because of the longer than before pipe it made cleaning my pond, which is over 5 foot deep, a pleasure. You would not believe how much it took out. My pond is 7 meters by 5 meters and it did this is no time. I was also suprised at how little I had to clean it afterwards. The bags on the end of the outlet pipe caught everything and only clean water was returned to the pond. These too were very easy to wash out.

Overall then, if you can go to the expense I can recommend this one.

    Hoselock Pond vac

I purchased one of these and was not happy with it. It was prone to block with quite small items on a very regular basis. Quite by accident, while doing a partial water change, using the extension pipe I had purchased to work in conjunction with the pond vac to syphon water, and take the pond water to the near drain. I found that the suction in the tube was lifting heavy rubbish and stones off the bottom of the pond. It was easy to use, costs next to nothing does a fantastic job.
