Yes you can plumb them for mains water, just requires a solenoid. I think roger has done it.

Gravity fed level switch is in the drum compartment then set it mid way on bracket for starters and adjust to your preferred requirements. Lower means longer between cleans, higher is more frequent cleans.

What height from the top do I have to install it?

Sorry to hijack this thread but I have the aem filtreau 30000 hiflow drum filter and it has started where as the clean side does not fill with water eve with the pump on the lowest setting. even at that low speed it sounds as if the pump is sucking air in and not pumping enough water through the bead.

Anyone else had this issue because at the moment I feel like throwing mine in the pond and filling it in.

Hi Craig, I havnt got the Aem but sounds like the mesh is blocked,is it cleaning ok?

If so it may need a blast with a hose or pressure wash on the screen to clear it.

Thanks John.the water does not fill enough to clean it automatically but when I push the red button it cleans fine. I also cleaned the screen about a month ago when I changed the faulty gearbox on it.
It has only been running since late June time and as much as I do not want to slag it off I have had a few issues with it so far and am getting very disillusioned with it.

What are your water levels with the pump off?

The dirty side stays full and the level in the clean side only raises slightly. on the clean side when I have the bottom drain fully open there does not seem to have any flow in it after the initial fill .

I am having an issue with flow on my skimmer as when i open the BD line the skimmer stops.

Are the sensors actually working Craig?

  17. #813
They seem to be as when I push the red button and the clean side fills the drum spins and cleans. But the main problem is when the sensor is at the lowest point the water in the clean side does not even get to the sensor before it is being sucked out and even though my pump (variflow 30000) is at the lowest setting.

Have you checked for air locks on your pump side, has it been like this from first install? What size pump/s are you running?

If the clean side isn’t filling even with the pump off then either:
    1) the screen is blocked (as suggested above)
    2) the water level isn’t high enough

if screen isn’t blocked then the water should be level on both clean & dirty side.

if the water level is below the sensors on the clean side then the drum will go into off-mode to avoid emptying your pond

What water height do you have with no pump running, does it touch the bottom of the waste chute?

It has run intermittently since the day I got it to be honest, I am on the 3rd gearbox thingy for it as the original packed up the 2nd had a plastic cog in it and when I tried to tighten it to the stated 65nm it snapped the shaft, The 3rd box seems to be working fine at the moment.
I am running an aquaforte variable 30000. Not sure about an air lock to be honest. How would I know?

    Thanks Craig.

Thanks, The screen was taken out the other week on one of my regular gearbox/motor changes that I seem to do and as a precaution I soaked the screen in citric acid for a couple of hours while i was doing it.

My water level in the pond is at the bottom of the waste chute as per the instruction manual. I have been having a major problem with my skimmer line also that is driving me mad and am now wondering if it is something to do with the drum.

When the pump is of the water level does not change in the dirty side at all.

Okay but when the pump is off is the water on the dirty side level with the water on the clean side?

skimmer is that feeding into the drum or not?
